First of all they are not refusing to return the candle for 'Unknown reasons' the reason is right there in the message.
Perhaps you could post the photos of the damage? Perhaps that would then enable people to be able to offer constructive advice on how to go about dealing with this company.

Something about the first post from the OP seems a bit off, not sure what though.

I really hope Lucie is on here in other guises because I haven't seen a good WU thread in aaages before this. :D S(he) really has put a lot of effort into it.
Last one I remember was the man who was wrestled to the floor in a supermarket and accused of trying to steal some cooking oil he was reaching for.
    Classic. :rotfl:

On a table? Do you suggest people with children also have no kettles ovens etc? What an unusual request?!?

What??? I'm sorry, these are no speech patterns I've ever come across in my life... WUM.

And if it had burned my house down my child would have remained safe because?

Er... because you would (?) have been there to save her??

Haven't read much of the thread, but I had a problem with Jo Malone a few years back. I had a travel size version of bath oil which I used on holiday and never had problems with, so when I returned I loved it so much I bought the full size. I took a bath and it burnt my skin, I took pictures and it was if I had had a chemical peel on my face, bright red, I had to take the day off from work as the skin was sensitive to everything. It was like it had literally taken the top layer of skin off.

Popped into Jo Malone to show them the pictures and to say that basically we thought it was a bad batch as the travel version had been fine. They asked us to bring the remaining oil into them so they can send it off for testing. Fine we thought, so we took the oil in.

Three months later, we popped in to ask what was happening. The oil was still sat on the manager's desk and he reply was, "I haven't bothered sending it off yet because there can't be anything wrong with it", because obviously because it's top dollar and Jo Malone there can't be a problem in production. A week after they posted the oil back to the house with no correspondence or anything and the bottle got damaged in the post, resulting in a very wet badly packaged parcel.I didn't bother chasing them and just simply haven't shopped there since as those sort of responses aren't worth my time or money.

As I say, I haven't read the whole OP or replies, but if it is a genuine Jo Malone candle I wouldn't be surprised if they tried to snuff you out with responses.

I don't get the whole Jo Malone thing - VERY overrated imo.

I just had a look on the website and can confirm that I will not be buying from them ever!

One candle was £260!!! For a candle!!! For BURNING!!!

From the perfumes I've smelled of theirs, it's all vastly overpriced and very mediocre. A case of the Emperor's new clothes! :rotfl:

I'd take more water with it if I were you, likelyfran.

So bored that you dig up a 3 month old thread and post 9 - yes nine - separate posts in answer to an incident that people got bored with in the space of 6 days!

Or are you trying to up your post count?

Don't you think you've been a little unfair here by calling the OP a WUM?

What happened to this attitude of yours which was posted on another thread just a week ago?

I actually take exception to the fact that someone comes on here to ask for help and they get told, instead, that they're either 1) thick or 2) lying.

I think you'll find that responding to OPs as many have done here, is totally against the ethos and 'rules' of MSE.
Ridiculing the OP on this thread is just as bad as calling her a liar (which in essence you have done by calling her a WUM) or 'thick'.

And I guess that would be you, likelyfran, on this thread.
