O'h well DD got home in a foul mood as she got soaked and seemingly I should have phoned her grandparents to pick her up! I told her this morning it was going to rain and we wouldn't have a car so what does she wear - canvas shoes and a hoody.
Love " When We were Younger " ILC.I remember taping the Top 40 from the radio with my old cassette player and we didn't have a phone at all until I was 18. Only one uncle had one in our family and that was because he was in the RNLI and they paid for it. So many things seem so much cheaper nowadays like clothes and TVs. Kids don't believe me when I say how poor my parents were when I was a kid.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Isn't it strange how the generations go? My parents didn't have much money to play with either but I wanted for nothing. Life was wonderful .... good home cooked (grown veggies etc) meals on the table, going off to the woods/farmland with pals for the day with picnic without fear. Homemade xmas pressies - and yes I can recall, when i was packed off to bed (not that i was spying!), me mum would be sewing, knitting, making all sorts of things to be opened xmas morn. :A
Fond memoriesxxx
Lot different now! However, I do me best to keep up with it all - love to keep up with me young family and all their technology - new generation and all that, good luck to them :A:A xxxMILITARY WIVES CHOIRSHELP for HEROES0 -
:hello: Everyone,
hope all is well,I had to go back to the dentist today as my tooth was still sensitive, xray was taken and apparently my 2 back teeth were the sensitive ones and you cant acess them easily so he had to numb the area and did it carefuly and I was a model patient, anyhow I had some tooth root exposed and thats why I was in so much pain,I cried with the pain at the dentist as well and then left a much happier and brighter person.saw my church friends and then went to a funeral at the same church.
relaxing this evening.
love and light,
Katie xxx0 -
Glad the tooth is a lot better now Katie xx I hate having toothache pain.
I think kids have it too easy these days ILC/Alfie/SheilsIt must have seemed like we were poor too as a child but we were fed, clean(ish) and happy!
I try to bring my kids up today to be respectful and be happy with what they have/haven't got. There's always someone worse off than ourselves! The kids are good in a sense that they don't ask for anything and appreciate everything they do get but some of my nieces/nephews have it too easy and get what they want but worse behaved!
I'm hank marvin! Waiting for my jacket spud to be nice and crispy how I like itBig thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Glad you are happier about your teeth Katie.
Your kids are lovely wingo. I do feel my DD is a bit spoilt and always wanting something. She has so many rich friends and ones from single parent families where the parents seem to be outdoing each other with presents. You would not believe what some of her friends got just for passing a few exams - not even doing that brilliantly. I refused to give her money for passing hers as none of the boys ever got anything. Her two oldest brothers give her too much as well.Mar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Just had to laugh. Salesman brought our car back and I asked if he had had a busy day. I did he said and I sold this one, pointing to the car that had been sitting outside our house all day. Must be a good salesman to sell a car when it wasn't even there. lolMar Wins :- £2 GfK Media

Lol! Must have shown them the key and the buyer took a liking to it!
I'm sure your DD is very respectful too Sheils and at least she is willing and keen to earn money too when she was working in the choc factory
Really enjoyed my jacket spud. I never get tired of eating them!Big thanks to all who contribute to the forums. Be lucky everyone and be safe!0 -
Ocado order done for Saturday (Friday was a no go as loads of out-of-stock items)
We got most of our clothes from jumble sales in the olden days. Don't see many jumble's these days. Use to get sick of trawling around them:eek:
Most things we had would be alien to youngsters today:eek: Cassette tapes, walkmans, personal cd, records, reel-reel, type-writers, 8 bit game consoles, B+W tv:eek: VHS recorder
We had a rotary dial phone (it was hard work)
Remember phone boxes (money in quick when answered:eek:)0
