And let's not forget (unless it has already been commented on)

Penalties for using your phone while driving

You can get an automatic fixed penalty notice if you’re caught using a hand-held phone while driving or riding. You’ll get 3 penalty points on your licence and a fine of £100. Your case could also go to court and you could be disqualified from driving or riding and get a maximum fine of £1,000.
Drivers of buses or goods vehicles could get a maximum fine of £2,500.

So white van man could be onto a fizzer ! I am always seeing them on their mobiles but have to admit never seen a horse rider on one, they always seem to holding onto the reigns for grim death.
You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)

Well travelling back from Derby on the M1 earlier today I saw plenty of drivers who clearly haven't got the message. The number of cars I had to overtake sitting in the third lane of four driving under the NSL with no-one on the inside of them was unbelievable.

The days of a PC's word be taken as 100% correct all of the time are long gone, so Mags use their common sense to decide what is and isn't correct.

Of course that is the case. You just keep telling yourself that.

But surely everyone is driving under the NSL, as to exceed it would be illegal.

    Four lanes is very simple:

    1. Trucks
    2. Caravans
    3. Cars
    4. Audis (especially with blacked out rear windows)

    ;)

You really need to read the posts before this one. ;)

    Ahahaha, the irony ;)

Sorry I have nothing useful to add as I've only just got up. But thank you for the laugh. :rotfl:

Since not all these offences are 'careless driving',

Which of the offences is not driving without due care and attention?

I think it's fairly obvious what is meant there (i.e. significantly below the NSL).

Besides, that isn't relevant -- the point is that even if someone is travelling significantly higher than the NSL they should not be in an overtaking lane when not overtaking.

It doesn't matter how much you middle lane bell-ends complain, the practice will not become acceptable!

Of course that is the case. You just keep telling yourself that.

And it will always seem that way to the clutzes in the dock [so to speak]....when they fail to cast 'reasonable doubt' on what a Police Officer says?

Trouble is, too many motorists in Court get weighed down with the idea of proving their innocence..instead of presenting either evidence, or, casting reasonable doubt on the CPS case.

Also, too many motorists get fouled up with a belief in urban myth.

And..they forget how easy their flimsy excuses can be challenged by anyone with half an ounce of intelligence?

But as you say, you carry on in your belief, no matter how unfounded it is by fact.
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

    What do you mean?
Ain't disagreeing, i'm just curious because it links back to my post about SARPs.
