The no wheels spins thing is going to be interesting given the amount of craptastic eco tyres on the road now.

I know there's a very very narrow range on my Mondeo where you can actually get traction, either side of this it's either stall or wheelspin. Gets even narrower if you need to steer while setting off.

You really need to buy better tyres. ;)

Yeaaah, but the biggest problem is it now allows even more scope for SARPs to drive about trying to enforce their own made up laws on other people.

And how will they enforce them?

My GF had to get new tyres recently (I actually pushed her into it) because she was running cheap/nasty tyre's that would wheel spin even on a clear dry day. There's also one junction near me, which is always covered in grease/diesel, I nearly always get wheel spin at that point, in fact so does everyone else.

These new rules are a joke, they don't cater to things that cause a real problem, they just cater to things people moan about the most.

The police officers can use common sense. They know the difference in a bit of wheel slip on a slippery surface, and someone flooring it to deliberately spin the wheels.

I would if I could... company car. Don't get that luxury.

For that reason alone I'm never having another eco-muppet car, even though in general, company car use is the one case where they make sense.

Yes sorry. I did read that in your later post.

It's not a "change in legislation". All that's happening is police have now more powers to deal with careless driving.

Actually thats not true, they can now issure on the spot fines (which the driver can obviously refuse to pay, and have the matter heard at coirt) - depending on the type of offence, Since not all these offences are 'careless driving', the required evidence would vary, but simply put, this now means the police have to follow even more rules to make sure the conviction is solid, and there's even more for the motorists to exploit to get off with it.

All it takes is for peopel to read up on procedure.

But the rules of evidence haven't changed have they?

Keep living your life in blissful ignorance.

Again, these are not new rules! The plod have always been able to take action against careless driving infringements such as listed, the only difference is that they now can now issue FPNs.

Actually it is true, no new offences have been created.
