I think half the problem is the power of modern diesels means you can drive like a wally, overtake, cut up, chop etc

It depends on how one defines evasive action. Forcing someone to brake quite hard might not be seen as forcing evasive action, but it's sure as hell dangerous.

    My bad :o

I thought evasive action meant doing anything that changes the motion of my car: braking, letting off the accelerator or steering round them, maybe "evasive action" in this context just means "dramatic manoeuvring" :rotfl:

Or of course (and more likely) some plank has inserted the word "not" into that bullet point

As far as giving way is concerned, braking and swerving amount to the same thing. TSRGD says the give way sign (ie sign 602) means
No vehicle shall cross the transverse line... so as to be likely to endanger the driver of... any other vehicle or to cause that driver to change the speed or course of his vehicle in order to avoid an accident.
So I have no idea what "Failing to give way at a junction (not requiring evasive action by another driver)" is supposed to mean. If nobody has to take evasive action (ie change his course or speed) then you didn't fail to give way.

I suppose it could refer to the situation where you pull out of a side street and someone slams into the side of you, but in that case it did require evasive action - the other driver just didn't do enough of it.

I don't think anyone is stupid enough to cut up a police vehicle, tailgate it etc.

The motorway police in this area use a variety of unmarked vehicles, it's rare to see the same one twice. This has to be the way forward as they blend in very well.

A while ago an unmarked car was being tailgated by someone in lane 3... was very satisfying to see the rear windscreen light up. :D

Sometimes the middle lane is the place to stay. On my journey home, I join an A road on a 2 lane stretch. 4 miles down the road it becomes 3 lanes with the 3rd lane on the inside of the lane I am in.
As the majority (90%) of the traffic in this lane is purely using it to go up to the next junction, I stay in the 2nd lane until clear of the off ramp for the next junction & then pull in as I am clear of the local traffic.

Is this wrong ?. No. the average speed of the local traffic is 50mph. The average speed of the 2nd (middle) lane is 57mph. So my defense would be that I was overtaking.

The no wheels spins thing is going to be interesting given the amount of craptastic eco tyres on the road now.

I know there's a very very narrow range on my Mondeo where you can actually get traction, either side of this it's either stall or wheelspin. Gets even narrower if you need to steer while setting off.

This is basically a load of nonsense, it's primarily a list of things that get on certain peoples nerves.

And if you get on the wrong persons nerve it will cost you.
