Not just hogging the middle lane

Actually thats not true, they can now issure on the spot fines (which the driver can obviously refuse to pay, and have the matter heard at coirt) - depending on the type of offence, Since not all these offences are 'careless driving', the required evidence would vary, but simply put, this now means the police have to follow even more rules to make sure the conviction is solid, and there's even more for the motorists to exploit to get off with it.
The "required evidence" for all these offences is merely the police officer telling the court "I saw them do x". Since there is zero chance of the magistrates not believing the police, your only hope of getting off is if the police officer fails to turn up in court.0 -
Being in the wrong lane and pushing into a queue on a roundabout
I wonder though, if i'm in a city I don't know and then decide i'm actually going the wrong way and change lanes, will I get a ticket?
My biggest problem with this is not necessarily the clamp down, but the ambiguity in it all.0 -

That is completely untrue. The days of a PC's word be taken as 100% correct all of the time are long gone, so Mags use their common sense to decide what is and isn't correct.0 -

Court statistics do not support that view...which is an impression only, to say the least. No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
Cannot understand what the fuss is all about?
Nothing has changed, essentially, nor will it.
Except that, there will be reduced financial strains on the Court system..and Police will be less inclined to 'ignore' offences..........something which...I think ....most who contribute to this forum would like to see?No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -

I suspect a lot of the fuss is that most drivers out there commit at least one of these offences on a fairly regular basis, while complaining loudly about the people who commit the others. You get the MLMs who complain about tailgating, the tailgaters who "o ly do it cos he's an MLM" and so on.
All these people know they do it, and that they shouldn't, but they do it anyway under various excuses because the chance of getting pulled has always been so slim. Now the prospect of getting a ticket because the system's been sensibly streamlined is upsetting to them :rotfl:0 -

I realise that, of course, just didn't want to post such observations because it would upset a couple of million viewers........:)No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0 -
