Orange /EE phone upgrade

As someone else said, EE and Everything Everywhere are the same thing. I think the original brand was Everything Everywhere, but they decided to shorten it down to EE because Everything Everywhere was a bit of a mouthful. Should technically not really make a difference to your circumstances other than the name change.0

I can see the OP's point. Perhaps it is something that should've been explained given that Orange and EE simply state that going 4G is an 'upgrade'.
At least there'll be a corresponding settled credit account which balances the new one.0 -

When you upgraded, you took out a NEW contract ending the previous one which you'd previously taken out contract with a company called Orange. They'd recorded it correctly.
That contract was ended when you upgraded, and you've now taken out a NEW contract with a company which has changed its name in the meantime. And that NEW contract is recorded correctly against the company you took it out with : EE (Everything Everywhere).
How did you want them to display this?
Maybe i have not explained it well enough...
I had an account with Everything Everywhere.... i had had that account for over 6 years, with 5 upgrades on that one account.
On my current upgrade, the everything everywhere account was closed and an EE account was opened... without my knowledge...
It is not one account, with a change of name... i now have two accounts on my credit file.
You do not have a new account show up on your credit file for every phone upgrade that you have with the same company... it may be a new contract, it is not a new account.0 -
Just a thought but maybe it is because up until now Orange where only in the prosess of changing over to EE. And now they have totally changed over all new account are starting afresh.0

I'm making assumptions here, but as you "upgraded" to an iPhone5, I'm assuming that you also changed to the EE 4G network?
Rather confusingly named IMO - just as everyone is getting used to seeing EE and it being associated with the old Orange/TMob brands.
Orange/TMob merged their branding to form Everything Everywhere - now commonly referred to as EE.
When Everything Everywhere launched their 4G network (totally new network) they called it simply EE.
You would have received upgrades in the past from your original 'host' network ie Orange or TMob - which were then subsequently rebranded Everything Everywhere. Now you have a new contract or "upgrade" if you like - but on a totally new network.
Hence, you have one account closed and settled and another opened in it's place.
Admittedly, I don't know your personal circumstances, but if you are scrutinising your credit scores each month (as you obviously are), I can only assume that at some point in the past you have been deemed as a credit risk, with a previoously low credit rating. However - I wouldn't have thought that settling one account in full (which what you have) and having another agreement opened in it's place, would make such a difference as to have any other credit refused etc. Once you start making payments on the new account regularly, your credit score should go up if anything.
One totally satisfied debt, and another good standing account should make for a better credit risk rating.0 -

That does not give them the right to open a whole new account...
Orange has shown up as Everything Everywhere for about 5 years on experian, i understand everything that has happened with orange/tmobile/ee merge/takeover/change... This is not in dispute here...0 -
I still don't see the problem? So what if you have one settled and one active account showing for a mobile phone provider on your credit account?
What real difference has that made at all to your ability to gain credit, in your actual day-to-day life? Have you been refused credit elsewhere since you got your iphone5 contract because your credit file shows a recently opened new phone provider account?0 -
HOW CAN THEY DO IT WITHOUT MY PERMISSION WITHOUT ME KNOWING.....
Is no one else wondering this...?????
Is no one else thinking that if EE can do it, anyone could do it...????0 -

It does if it is a whole new system.
Read the post under my last one. It explains it in more detail.
You are not going to be able to alter anything now, so why leg it eat you up.0 -
