It's just a letter, I have one to go on christmas eve where the sheet says to go in the post box and this one is another letter but it actually says to go in the post office.

Would the post box outside the post office be fine to drop it in?

If it is a letter, just pop it into the box outside - you never need to actually hand in letters at the post office - you are supposed to post them in the box outside.

  • My mistake. I always thought it was a Mailsort code which identified the recipient's location.

Not your mistake. I believe they are referring to the Standard Selection Code (SCC). This relates to the recipient's post code. It's mentioned in the Pre-Sorted Bulk Mail section of the News & Features section.
  • I have officially become a RM Survey bore - just received a survey letter from the Isle of Man - with a Manx stamp and post mark on - really tickled me :-)
  • I have just received a £5 voucher for my participation in Nov/Dec survey.

There was a mixup of instructions from them though.

I had a picture of leaflet for which I needed to confirm it's receipt. But it never arrived. I did email from the start of the survey to know what to do if it doesn't arrive. Their reply was it could arrive anytime in three weeks. In the meant time another two pics appeared one which I was able to confirm it's receipt. Then the picture disappeared thed day after 3 weeks, without my input. I got worried and emailed RMS they replied back don't worry we will record it as non receipt so I thought nothing of it.

RMS then emailed me asking me about my email saying I said I did have any Unaddressed mail. Luckily I had emails to refer back to.

I am still confused if the box for non receipt appears should I tick it as soon as or wait until the last day... I will ask them next time.

Assuming a full week had passed from the end of the monitored 3 weeks, if I hadn't received an item by the time the "not received" box had appeared, I'd report it as such as soon as possible.

However, do ask TNS and let us know what they say.
  • I too have just been invited back after a years break and I have letters to post Christmas day and boxing day. Luckily I have a post box just round the corner from my house and hopefully I will be able to post the boxing day one at the post office on the way to the sales as it's not close by.
  • I have one to post on Christmas day as well, after 1pm but before the last collection. No collection on this day of course. When would you post it ?

Well the one I have to post will go in the PO box on Christmas Day when we go round to family for lunch - so probably before 12.00 but I shall record the exact time I post - if they want us to post on days when there are no collections they have to accept that the data they want is going to be skewed.

    Merry Christmas everyone.

    If "in training":
my first choice would be to post on Christmas Day if I was passing a postbox/office in my local area. If not then, then on New Year's Day, again only if not much out of my way/special effort.

If "on regular survey, posting to other panelists":
I'd leave till 8 January (ie the next proper Wednesday).
