  • I've been doing the unaddressed survey continuously for about 4 months now and have never been asked to return any of the leaflets etc. TBH, I don't keep them at all now. As soon as they are in the house, and logged on the system, they go into the recycling.

Out of interest, is it normal to be on the unaddressed survey this long? I know it runs on a vaguely 3-week cycle, but mine just keeps going and going! Not complaining, because it's no work and I like the regular £5 voucher! Just wondering if it's normal...

I'd say it was very unusual to be on it continuously. I have only ever done one and then a break for some time.

Do you have rather unusual unaddressed items? Ours are just pizza, estate agents, etc.

Or perhaps no-one else is on it in your area.
  • No... My items are pretty normal! Pizza, Budgens, Hilary's blinds, nothing particularly unusual! But yes, I've probably made about £25 in regular £5 vouchers from doing this.

I have just started week 2 of the 3-week cycle, so I'll see what happens at the end of this cycle... My time on the main panel ends next week, so that might be the end of the unaddressed survey for me also. We'll see!

But, as you say, perhaps there is just no one else doing it near me.

  • I've just been to the Post Office to post a little box and the woman wanted to know what was inside it.

I tried to bluff it and say I didn't know and then she asked if there could be aerosols in it. I said No. Then she wanted to put my name and address on the outside of the box - Arghh! I refused to let her have my details. The box is really light so I don't know why she thought it would have aerosols in it :p

I ended up telling her that I couldn't let her know what was in the parcel and it definitely wasn't aerosols. She warned me that it may be destroyed in transit if staff think it's dangerous.

Has anybody else had this sort of hassle? I managed to post my first box OK a few weeks ago and the same woman took the parcel from me without any problems.

if I get asked whats in the box I usually say im returning a sample to someone after choosing my seat padding...hence the reason the box is already stamped and if they care to open it all they would find would be foam!

I think there is a law about the carriage of areosols via the post and thats possibly why you were asked whats in the box.

I think pannelists tend to worry about being asked questions about their postings by vigilant postcounter staff but to be honest if you go prepared with a reason then its a lot less easy to become flustered if challenged

You could also say its an ebay package loads of those are posted everyday with little problem

  • I always say that as long as I post it it doesn't need my details on it as I don't care whether it gets there or not!

  • I did say that I wasn't worried if it got destroyed. If they had opened it they would have found a SMART so I didn't really want them to do that.

If there is a next time I'll say I'm returning samples - nice and easy. Thanks LEJC

The PO have a new policy just come in so staff are now either asking what's in packages or they now have a sheet to show you to ask if any of those items are in it.

I was stuck in the queue last time trying to think of what I could say it was! I was semi prepared as I've been questioned already on my own personal post I've sent.

Personally I think they should just check it's not on the dangerous list, it's too nosey asking exactly what's in it..

Yesterday I received a packet with 2 SMARTS in it. This is the first time this has happened to me so I phoned up for advice. I was told to record receipt of one SMART and return the other.
Hope this helps anyone else who has the same issue.

I thought the best solution to this problem was to ask what the people in charge of the survey suggest. Their answer is...
    ...
This is a situation we are aware of and we recommend that you advise any member of staff at the post office that the package contains a piece of foam. If you have any further problems then please let us know.

Come on people, it's not difficult: lose means to be unable to find, loose means not being fixed in place. So if you have a hole in your pocket you might lose your loose change.
