Hi all. i was just wondering , when you have to post a parcel what do you say is in it when they ask you. i had to think quick when i posted my first one and said it was fly fishing hooks. the problem is the parcels small and mediun are so light. look foward to your replys

    Hi Boysim34,
I have been asked what the contents are each time I've sent a parcel and have said "Sample of foam", but just to change it up a bit, have also said "Bubble wrap"!, "Tissue paper"! and "Voile fabric"!! People sell all sorts of stuff on ebay so not once has an eyebrow been raised by counter staff!
I don't feel the need to lie about it, a sample of foam is fine. But coming up with random yet plausible ideas occupies my mind better than staring at the back of someone's head whilst standing in the queue!! ;)
    Happy posting! C x

I've said a cross stitch picture/kit the last few times I've been asked! Not sure why they have to be so nosy!

Er no....I have escalated to old Moya Green lol !!

Er no it went to a Green bin lol !!

To what end Stephen? Do you really think that email address is direct to Moya?
Do you think a minor collection issue warrants the CEOs time?
More to the point, how often do you think a box in that type of location is emptied?

Got a response from Moya. She has apologised and offered me a GOGW in terms of a book of free 1st class stamps.

They're asking to find out if the goods you are posting are in the restricted/prohibited lists. They need to know if they are to refuse to accept it, needing to put their special hazard labels on or to advise you to use a different service. Whilst you're wondering what sort of inanimate object you can tell them, they are thinking is it valuable, aerosol, with a battery, toxic, alcohol etc etc. Keep it simple, it's polystyrene.

I have posted some xmas cards in my local Asda post box. The post box, which is very large, was jammed full of post. I just managed to get my cards into it. It is very clear to me that nobody from Royal Mail had emptied the box for a period of time and I wish to escalate to someone at Royal Mail. Does anyone please know who I should escalate to ?

By the way, there is a post office very close to Asda.

Just amazed. I used unfranked old stamps for several of my xmas cards and they were all delivered without any probs. Just use wd-40 to get any unfranked stamps off envelopes and it works wonders. One of the stamps was donkeys years old and was still delivered lol !

I have several more to use as well; some are valued at £3-00.

    HTHs.

Well of course - any decimal stamp issued by the Post Office (Royal Mail, Consignia or whoever) is still valid for postage at it's face value. I regularly buy old mint stamps on eBay at below face value to use on birthday cards etc.

Of course, if you didn't put the stamps on the wrong envelopes in the first place you would save on the cost of the WD-40.

What? You can't possibly mean re-suing stamps that have already been through the postal system once can you? That would be - erm - hang on - there's a word for that isn't there... https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/3686653
I need to think of something new here...
