I've just had my first received items and entered the details on the site, do I now recycle all the paperwork? And is there a charity I can send the stamps to?

Check with your local charities as many of them will accept them gratefully.

Since I'm being sent stamps I'm sure I can spare one occasionally... I found this list of charities which accept stamps for fundraising, some might be out of date so it's probably worth double-checking, but it's nice to think all those stamps will help somebody!

It's not so much the cost of posting, it is the silly dimensions thing with RM now that puts me off posting used stamps to charities

I send all my used stamps here:

Help! I just input the wrong information... I had two packets to post, one in the post box and one over the counter, I got them mixed up when I was logging online and said I posted the one I actually handed in. Should I do anything?

So you had a box and a packet to post....???

guideline was presumably one at a post box and one at a post office...unless its a box you shouldnt be handing anything in at the counter...it should be posted in the post box outside the post office.

you may find that you get an email query in a day or so or a query that asks you to confirm what youve done via the queries button turning red on the website...its not the end of the world but something to be mindful of next time!

They were both packets... so you're saying I should always post packets in the post box? Why did the posting schedule say to hand one in at the post office then?

I've said that I put both in the post box which is outside the post office anyway. I'll look out for the queries button.

OK thanks, I just assumed Post Office meant actually going in and handing it over, I won't do it again! For future reference, when I enter details for these packets, do I select post office or post box?

if you are asked to post at a post office then providing the item you are posting will fit in the slot, post it at the box outside the post office

If you are asked to post at a post box,try to post at a post box that is seperate from the post office at another location.

Sometimes you might be asked to post a box and these are the only things that really ought to be going over the counter at a post office, purely because they are too large to fit through a post box slot!...although occaisionally the system might ask you to try and post at a post box!

Basically you have a tab to manage post boxes on the website and if you can try to choose a few different post boxes rather than just one the one at the post office.
For example I have 2 post offices fairly local to me and altermate my posting betewwn them and about 4 post boxes in an easy walkable distance so they are all listed as my available boxes.
Sometimes if you live rurally then there is only one post box in the area and as such you need to do all your posting through that but if there are several boxes near you use those too.
If you use several then it will help the panel collate a broader picture of postal collection.

If you are still unsure have a read through the training and FAQ section on the website it does cover quite a lot of basic info and is worth having a look at especially if youre new to the panel or returning after a break.

  • I have found it best to put a bit of thought into your registered post boxes and post office boxes. For my post office boxes, at the moment I hove 3 registered - 1 where I can drive past and nip out of the car, another in the centre of the nearest town and a third which is next to a big supermarket and would likely do my shopping there but can also park up and post. I need to register some more near to where I work as hubby is going away and won't be able to do the posting.

It makes it less of a chore if you are passing anyway.
