Is there nothing in the Jiffybags then, quoia?

I've had every possible combination over the last few months

Only about 10 of the 35 Jiffys I've received have been "assembled" correctly

Excluding the R number label sheet and SMART.....

    I've had empty bags

    Just 9 sheets of paper

Just the piece of cardboard - but still flat

or cardboard & sheets of paper but NOT with the paper folded several times each way and put INSIDE the cardboard sleeve.

To be a SMALL PARCEL it HAS TO BE OVER AN INCH (25mm) THICK

Otherwise it will go though the slot in the sizing guide thast allows it to be a LARGE LETTER !

Which means it is treated totally different at the sorting office etc ..

Have you not noticed that when you receive a Jiffy bag (or other "Parcel") and login to record its arrival that you get the EXTRA question about (something like)

"Did you receive it first time from the postman?
"Was it left somewhere else? (Shed, neighbour or something)
"Was a card left and you've had it redelivered or collected it?

This is because potentially a "PROPER" Small Parcel Jiffy Bag might NOT fit through your letter box and hence the postman has to make alternative arrangements / take alternative steps which affect the item's delivery

I have been on the panel for over a year and have never received a jiffy bag with the sheets of paper folded more than in half and never put inside the cardboard sleeve.

Nor have I sent any in that way either.

I have never been advised that what I was doing was not correct.

If that is what is wanted then there should be instructions to do so.

    Hi

As long as the folded sheets paper and carboard are inside the jiffy bag, does it matter? I've never folded the paper and put it inside the carboard sleeve.

I'd have thought it was obvious that's what the paper is for.

So you don't know the difference between a small parcel and a large letter then ?

Have you not noticed the £3.30 postage (if 1st class) on the Jiffy ?
It would only require a Large Letter stamp at 95p on it for it to be delivered the way you send it.

Why wouldn't you "inflate"/assemble the cardboard sleeve into "something"

You get a piece of "flat" cardboard and turn it into a CD/DVD box before posting it. You even put some packing inside it.

You get a piece of "flat" cardboard an turn it into a CUBE before posting it. You even put some packing into that as well.

Having said that I know of people who have received BOTH of the above where they nowhere near resemble the construction that they should. Indeed some have received them also as "flat as a pancake" INSIDE an envelope
Even had them delivered enclosed within the GREY PLASTIC posting bag that's sent out from TNS :rotfl:

TNS admit they are seriously over estimating the capabilities of many of their panelists. They have actually said this to me more than once but they are somewhat unaware of the scale and frequency of it, which is why they are very grateful when members report these anomalies.

Because your way it's ONLY a LARGE LETTER.

When in fact it should be a SMALL PARCEL - over an inch thick

    Hi

I think you misunderstood my post. I put the folded sheets of paper in the jiffy bag then the cardbboard sleeve not inside the cardboard sleeve. It's the same weight.

Except the difference in this case is more pertinent to size.

I've been on the panel twice now and never once received a jiffy bag that had the bundle of A4 paper folded more than once or placed inside the cardboard piece inside the jiffy..

When sending my own, i always thought that the cardboard piece padded the bag enough that when combined with the bundle of A4 paper, it made the jiffy more than 25mm thick, therefore justifying the price on the stamp

I do not recall seeing any documentation referring to the role of the cardboard piece (it might exist but it appears nobody else has read it if that's the case). I'm going to have to measure the next jiffy bags i send or receive and see how thick they are.:rotfl:
  • Why bother ? It is TNS's problem (totally incompetent IMHO) not yours so why worry about it or even bother lol ?

I have to agree that there's never been any instruction that says to fold the paper inside the cardboard insert, I do this too but only after reading on here.
Some might be concerned that they make it too thick and then postage would be wrong.
