Last week was my last week on the live posting panel although I have received a letter this week and I have been invited to participate in both the unaddressed and correctly delivered surveys.

The stamps came in very useful when I recently sold items on eBay.

It was absolutely as flat as a pancake and whizzed through the Royal Mail as a LETTER and NOT the parcel as it should have done.

When I send one of these I fold the 9 blank A4 sheets several times both length ways and width ways until it fills the height of the space inside the little "cardboard box insert" and wedge it in to ensure it cannot collapse and that it CANNOT pass through the 1 inch/25mm slot, that a LARGE Letter has to do to become a "letter", making certain that my jiffy bag is definitely a £3.30 small parcel. :j

    </RANT> :D

I've had a couple in the last week which were meter franked at 81p when they should have been £2.80. First time ever I've had to press the 'other' tab on the posting amount.

Oh and as for folding the paper up really small in the jiffy bag that would annoy me as I use the blank sheets in my printer. ;)
  • Agree with chocmonster, what is the point of wasting perfectly usable paper?

I think the point is that it means the parcel goes through how it was intended to go through with the paper folded as suggested instead of as a letter? The paper is not intended as a perk for us (Although it is a nice perk) but as packing and weight for the postal item:)

Grrr.... only just recently invited back after my 6 months off when I got this this morning:- "Thank you for posting items for the Royal Mail Survey for the past few weeks. Due to a space being oversubscribed, we are going to pause your participation for a few weeks."

    Booooo!

Have just received July's incentive in an envelope with a standard Missing Incentive letter, but the label addressed to me didn't have my postal code on! :o

Agreed - I also have used the blank paper in my printer - but that not the point - your "payment" and reward are the stamps and vouchers ....

... making sure the mail you send complies to the intended specification is not only more important it's vital.

Anyway you can still benefit the next time YOU are required to SEND a "Jiffy Bag" and you've been sent the 9 A4 sheets of blank paper in your posting pack. You just KEEP THESE and use the ones that you have received that have been folded multiple times - the word is RECYCLE.

Indeed the last 2 times that I've sent a "small parcel" I WASN'T sent any sheets of paper - just the small cardboard "box" inserts.

On both occasions these have been the Postage Type "RESPONSE SERVICES" with a Class Of Postage of "1st/330p"

1 was a LARGE envelope and nothing like a "Jiffy bag", the other was "padded" but fully pre-printed with destination and postage details and not the normal brown one with £3.30 stamp attached that you address yourself, either handwritten or apply the provided label.

For these I included 4 "double" pages from a weekend newspaper magazine that weigh just about the same.

Not sure you could have used these in your printer however I had folded them :)
They would have provided details of what was on the TV about a month ago if that was of interest to you :D

I can appreciate the comments made about why the letter/package needs to have the correct contents, but surely as long as it bears the correct postage required for the survey it should go through the system as an appropriate item - or am I missing something here?

So if TNS do not send the paper/cardboard insert for me to use but the envelope has the correct postage, why should you find it necessary to put your own extra stuffing in?

You're very conscientious, quoia! I just stuff the paper, SMART and cardboard insert in the jiffy bag!

    That's all I do.

I just make sure that the cardboard insert resembles the "BOX" that it should be "made into" - ie. 120mm x 135mm x 30mm thick - and IS NOT just a flat piece of card.

I then STUFF the paper, having folded it another 2 or 3 times in each direction, INSIDE the "BOX" to stop it collapsing and to maintain a thickness of MORE than 25mm to the Jiffy bag to stop it being treated as a LARGE LETTER

I spoke again with the help desk earlier today having received yet another Jiffy this morning that was as flat as a pancake - the 3rd this week.

They confirmed that they are aware of this problem (and glad that I raised it yet again, taking particular notice of the frequency I'm experiencing) and agree that some/many senders are not posting the Jiffys with the cardboard insert constructed as expected
