I'm on the 5 week unadressed mail survey, but the last two weeks have not shown up on the system. Does anyone else have this problem?

The isnt a problem per se...because you have identified all the leaflets that the panel are interested in within the first 3 weeks you dont need to continue for the following 2.

I think the way it works is you have upto 5 weeks for the leaflets to be delivered and recorded,so if youve not identified the key items as shown there is an addiditional 2 weeks available for them to be delivered and monitored.

This happened to me last time I did the survey
frugal October...£41.82 of £40 food shopping spend for the 2 of us!

    2017 toiletries challenge 179 out 145 in ...£18.64 spend
  • Can anyone clarify something concerning the large letter stamps we receive please.

On the reverse of the book it says up to 100g. However on the website it states a large letter is up to 750g. All other dimensions are the same on the website and book.

Does anyone know if I could use the large letter stamps for 150ish grams?

The large letter stamps we receive are for the lowest weight of large letter i.e. 100 gr which costs 90p. the price of that stamp.

This page will show you the various weights & costs for large letters.

Thank you! Given this information, would I be correct in assuming sticking one of the 'large' stamps we have, plus a 2nd class ordinary stamp would cover a large letter of around 150-200g?

Thank you so much. Aside from the average first and second class stamps I've never really used stamps so finding it a bit confusing, but I'm selling some old video games and stuff on eBay for my wedding fund and trying to find a use for all these large stamps I have acquired!

    Hi all, new to this.

Received an email about a week ago from TNS (I used to do surveys with them years ago, have slacked off a bit, but still hear from them from time to time) inviting me to take part in the Royal Mail Unaddressed Mail survey for 9th Sept until 13th Oct. I read the first part of the email saying I would have to record receipt of unaddressed mail by comparing items against images on the website. Sort of scan read the rest as I was in a bit of a hurry, saw it was a £5 love to shop voucher and thought why not give it a go as something different, so clicked on the "confirm your participation" link and that was it I was registered. The confirmation screen said I would get an email on 5th Sept exlaining what I would have to do. The 5th came and went without me receiving an email (did also check spam) so I figured I just hadn't qualified for some reason, then this morning I got an envelope of plastic mail bags and stickers in the post with details explaining what to do. The letter included did seem to suggest that I should have prior knowledge of what to do, so I guess I should have received an email after all, but hopefully it doesn't matter that I didn't.

I got a local free newspaper today (which I assume I have to include?) so I logged on to the website (using the forgotten password link, since I've never been on the website before) and found there was more to the website than just the unaddressed bit.
I looked back at the invite email I had got (and read it properly this time!) and realised it included the words "participation does not impact your status in the main survey". I originally took this to mean the TNS surveys, but this website I'd never been on before suggested otherwise, so a quick google search and I found this thread. I've read through a few pages and realised that this a much bigger scheme, so now I'm a little confused as to how I've ended up involved, but at the same time it does explain why the email/letters all seem to suggest prior knowledge and participation!

So are you guys all involved in the "main survey"? And this involves a "training" period? You get paid in stamps, not vouchers? Plus you have a much more stringent timetable, posting items at certain locations at certain times? Whereas I think, if I understand correctly, the unaddressed survey I'm doing only lasts 3-5 weeks and I only have to post an envelope back every Monday?

I've no idea if I'm signed up beyond this survey or even if I've been signed up for this one by misake!

Sorry for the really long post!
  • Hi all, new to this.
    <snip>
    :rotfl:Sounds typical TNS.

The main survey is a couple of thousand folks sending and receiving letters, packets and parcels to and from each other, according to instructions. Despatches and arrivals are reported back to TNS via the website.

The Unaddressed Mail survey, which you seem to be on, is more sporadic and short-lived.

There is third type of survey which involves reporting all correctly and/or incorrectly addressed mail.

Yes, you can use one large stamp and then make any extra cost up with other stamps but I am not sure how RM treats post if they bear a mix of 1st & 2nd class stamps.

If you are sending by 1st class mail, you could just add the extra postage - 30p for a 15-200 gr letter and there would be no problem.

The only problem I can see is if you use 2nd class stamps (as opposed to those with an actual value) as you want to send by 2nd class mail, that the recipient might have problems if they have a particularly "jobs worth" postie.

Hope this makes sense. Perhaps someone on here has more idea than me.

I sell on Ebay occasionally and hand in the parcel along with stamp books, and the assistant takes the stamps she needs.

The marking as 1st and 2nd is to make life simple for posting an item requiring just one stamp. The stamps have the value attributed to them at the time they are used to post something.

A postie would not be a "jobs worth" if they relied on the 1st or 2nd mark to decide which service was required, they would be wrong. It is the total value which determines whether something is handled as 1st class.

If it fails to pass that hurdle, it goes 2nd class. Of course, if it were to still fail 2nd class, the service then charges the extra for 2nd class delivery plus the "fine" for underpayment.

I'm currently completing the send and receive surveys, and there is currently an item showing in the section where there is no 'R' number. Although I have received a couple of magazines recently, there is no image displaying on the screen. Therefore, unable to check whether any of the items I have received ties in with this.

Has anyone found similar? Will send TNS an email if the image doesn't display correctly in next few days.
