Don't get too excited...mine was sent back to DWP on 1st April. Told 4 weeks ago by Atos it would be 3 weeks before a decision was made and I would be notified. Phoned yet again today (daily calls now) still nothing been done with it.Rang atos again today and it appears there has been some movement. The lady there told me my claim has been worked on ready to be sent to DWP. Looks like the end could be in sight at last.
BUT now there is a message when you call saying that claims take 26 weeks (6 months). Appalled they think this is reasonable. (And mine has taken longer than this now anyway)0 -
Well just as I thought, passed from atos to dwp...told dwp have sent it to atos but atos said they're being told what to assess by the dwp, I do understand that people with life threatening disabilities are apparently being dealt with first which is rightly so. I wouldn't want to queue jump before a disabled person who is more in need of an assessment appointment so I'm biding my time.0

I understand what you are saying, but you do have to think of yourself & your son as well. I got my assessment very quickly - less than 8 weeks. I do have a terminal illness, but not one that has a life expectancy of less than 6 months, so did not ask to be fast tracked. It does seem, though, that I have been given an appointment a lot more quickly than others. That's them doing that, so don't do yourself down by not pushing - you'll not be pushing someone else out.Holly_dolly wrote: »Well just as I thought, passed from atos to dwp...told dwp have sent it to atos but atos said they're being told what to assess by the dwp, I do understand that people with life threatening disabilities are apparently being dealt with first which is rightly so. If you don't mind me asking, did you have any help filling out the form, and have you had any guidance about the assessment? I was lucky because my sister works helping people fill in forms and going to appeal (only part time now as she's gone back to uni ) but I found it both a great help and an eye opener what she advised. For example, I have partial hearing. It's not a biggie for me, I have hearing aids and cope fine. I'd not have put it on the form if she hadn't said yet in the award I got points for it. Yet for something else that gives me great problems on a daily basis, I was awarded 0 points because I manage unaided, even though with a lot of difficulty.
It was a great help to me to have someone who has a lot of experience giving me advice. If you haven't had that, find out what's available in your area.0 -
Hi malebolge,
Yes I had help from the advice shop, I don't know if it's worth my while asking them to see how long it's going to take... And if they can speed things along.. So far I'm nearly on week 11 which isn't much of a wait but still long enough.0 -
They are now quoting 26 weeks. I'd just keep phoning them every few daysHolly_dolly wrote: »Hi malebolge,

As above from Serendipity I was told up to 3 weeks. I'm actually finding this last wait the hardest.0
