Glad it went well for you, and that they turned up! It's a great feeling isn't it? I can't believe how much better I've felt since I've had the assessment. As I've said before this next wait isn't great but at least you do feel like you've moved forward and you're only having to cope with your condition without the added PIP stress. Here's hoping for a quick decision and a decent award.

Thanks Susie - I know it's less than an hour since he went but I am feeling great! Thanks for your advise and let's hope your wait is nearly over. Best wishes.

  • After being told 3 weeks for a decision. I rang today 5 weeks on and they says they have sent a query to Atos today. Can someone please tell me what this might be for and how long it will take.

I really am on the bottom and need a decision to move on with my life

After my email to ATOS last week. An assessment appointment suddenly appears for early July, only 9 months after I applied.
    Maybe email works? :T

    In a complete panic now.

Applied mid Feb (move over from DLA), received phone call at 4.30 today from Capita offering me an assessment tomorrow morning at 9am. Any hints or tips? I feel sick. I hate talking about what I can't do. I'm very solution focused so I don't tend to concentrate on the negatives unless I'm having 'a moment'.

I have psoriatic arthritis and ehlers danlos type 3. Walking is always problematic. Fatigue is terrible and my right wrist sprains from just brushing my teeth!

    Help!

I also had assessment with Capita home visit and the woman that done mine was very nice, asked questions gave me time to answer them, I wasn't asked to do anything other than hand and wrist movements, I just when answering made sure I explained myself well and that it couldn't be taken two ways, they ask usually about a typical day so just say how your affected by your condition is what I done. Good luck!
  • Mackem mammy I am going through the same as you. DWP received my report on 30 April and I was told initially decision would be 2-3 weeks. This changed to 3-4, then I was told 4 weeks is the average time. So on 4 June, 5 weeks after receiving the report, DWP decided to send a query to Atos! I now wonder if my report was just sitting on a desk until then. Atos say they replied the same day, but DWP have still not logged the response. My assessment was 30 January and report was in audit until 27 April. I thought once it got to DWP it would be quick. How wrong I was! I applied for PIP 30 October, so 32 weeks on, I'm very stressed and losing hope.

Thanks for the reply, at least i know i am not alone. I am going to ring Atos soon and see if i can get any answers off them. I have requested a call back which i didn't receive in the 5 days that i was promised. I am now awaiting another one.

I don't think DWP understand what they are putting people through with this wait. I have worked for my whole life and have now had to resort to benefits to survive and i can't even get them. Would you please post if you have any updates.
  • I too am waiting for my second call-back, I'm not holding my breath though. Atos will probably tell you what they told me, that they replied to DWP via email and sent a hard copy. Unfortunately DWP don't do anything until they receive the hard copy and the post apparently takes at least a week to arrive! Then it has to be logged etc. I hope you have more luck than me.

another post bout call backs that never happen, its disgusting it has happened to me loads of times, mine been going on since August last year been awarded enhanced living but now waiting for unplanned intervention decision for appeal on mobility component. The five days call backs inevitably end up 10 to 15 days and as for the timescale of sending letters on the DWP ATOs side of things they use carrier pigeon:mad: you know

I applied 5 months ago and they've only just put me onto the system, so it will be another few months before I get considered for a possible f2f which will be a few more months.... funnily enough we have since discovered my condition is potentially fatal and much worse than we knew in February but if we reapply the process will have to start from scratch and they won't amend the original application at all, and so I will most likely have died by the time my claim is processed..... which I guess is what they hope for!!
There is no shame in not knowing; the shame lies in not finding out.
