To be honest what's most important to me right now is being able to do this OU course and get on top of my debt.
I don't however see a way to make that possible without trying to make the best of this current situation.
Ambivalence much?
/urgh
How is that going to happen if you commit suicide?
You could even just go to a normal university, move into halls or share with other students, get a loan/grant that doesn't cost anywhere near as much and only gets repaid when your earnings reach a certain level, get lots of support and have a normal uni experience, rather than locked up in a flat staring at a screen and some books with some muppet playing CoD at full volume right beside you.
And you could go anywhere in the country to study that way. You wouldn't have to jump to his summons, deal with any of the crap from him anymore - you'd be free far, far earlier and still have a chance of dealing with the debts without him.I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll

Every university in the UK has a team of advisors on the phone right now who can help with that kind of question (because the A level results come out tomorrow)!
Also you could phone the OU about finances and see what can be done. Their degrees are designed to be done part-time in addition to paid jobs! You've got a sum together that can keep you going for a few months - very well done there - so you are much less stuck than you think, and a lot of your "I can't" reactions are coming from (understandable) misery rather than rational thought. You have a lot going for you and you can get out, I promise.0 -

Thank you!
PS today really is the absolute best day of the year to phone a Uni and see what's possible. Admissions departments already know their applicants' results so they know which courses are undersubscribed, but the lines aren't going to be clogged with Clearing enquiries until tomorrow. Maybe it's a sign

Right well I'm off. 26 and having to crawl to Mother to put oneself up. How pathetic I feel.
Give up your career, home, car, financial stability, pretty much your life for someone and they go about their day to day business as if you've spat on them.
Why I ever thought this would work god only knows. I'm more angry with myself than him.Cashback Earned ¦ Nectar Points £68 ¦ Natoinwide Select £62 ¦ Aqua Reward £100 ¦ Amex Platinum £48

I don't have much advice about your OH, but just wanted to offer my support. It's hard to help someone who doesn't seem to want help and even harder to stand back and watch them in pain.
If the debt becomes completely unmanageable, would you consider insolvency? A debt relief order (if you got the debt under £15'000) or bankruptcy (over £15'000) aren't ideal solutions as they will screw up your credit and I think they remain on your history for 6 years, but you would be free of the debt. Again, not ideal, but could be a last resort?
Good luck whatever you decide
