Stepchange are making the July payment to them today so I rang up and paid what would be the balance and next months interest (totalling £85) so it is all clear! :j:j
This means my other creditors will be getting a much bigger sum from August and I can't wait to see the figures come down quicker. Feels like a turning point
Well done!!!:T:T

I'm so happy to be able to add to this thread. Today I paid off the balance of my Next account. It's the first of my creditors to be paid off. It was also the smallest debt and they had frozen interest for around 12 months, so I was paying quite a small amount. I considered paying them more to get rid of it, but I was concentrating on clearing debts with high interest rates.
However, I discovered that 2 months ago interest was being added again at around 26% (my highest interest rate up to then was 19.9%). So, this became my priority - one down, 5 to go!SPC # 348 2014-£169.07/2015 - £156.89

Paid off a CC today with a payment of £358! Started out as £2500, feel good to have killed it! Next I'm focussing on last bit outstanding on another CC and then onto overdraft.
Still got approx 6100 +200+1000+1900 = 9200 to go but that is more than half less then when I had my LBM. Go meFinally had my eyes opened and I am ready to tackle my debts!

I just paid off a very annoying Halifax loan which I took out years ago whilst already being over-committed in debt but head still firmly in sand. Since going self managed on my dmp I wanted this to be my first debt gone. Couldn't wait for pay day as tried to make an installment and they were so infuriatingly unhelpful that I just paid the lot off (£192) out of my meager emergency fund and will replace it when I get paid (when I would have paid it off anyway) in a few days. So technically I haven't paid it off til the end of the week but in reality it's gone gone gone.... and I never have to speak to those annoying people again - woo! One down, 6 to go (debts and annoying creditors that is!)Debt at highest - June 2013 - 26k/ March 2018 - 2500
Proud to be dealing with my debts0 -

I'm proud to announce my second post to this thread :j
I just paid off a loan from a friend :j
She bailed me out a week after my LBM when I didn't have the money for the rent. I was in a complete mess and she rescued me. The money officially left my account this morning.
DH never knew (things were bad enough) so only my friend and the lovely people here knew I owed her money. Such a weight off my shoulders. Obviously this couldn't be added to my DMP and some months it's been a struggle to cover everything but I'm one more debt down and it feels amazing.
