As I've said before, the most popular question after 'how?' for me is, 'why?'. Personally, I think it's also the most ridiculous question! It's patently obvious why! I'd rather have a corner shop in the spare room and a fuller wallet than have to pop out to the REAL corner shop every day to pick up goods at inflated costs (as many of my friends do).
Your last paragraph says it all for me, too.
So True - but I think it's my Guilty Pleasure. I have kept the extent of it a secret from my closest friends because I feel they may judge me and think I am miserly and stupid for being MSE
I fill my Mums cupboards, fridge, freezer and the back bedroom to the rafters (and do the same in my own house).
On the rare occasions my DB and SIL visit Mum SIL always makes some nasty comments about all the whoopees in the fridge and all the food in the house.
Then she complains about being so tiered and leaving for work at 6.30 each morning, for her high powered job.
She gets everything from Waitrose Home Delivery and have a very expensive lifestlye.
DB also has very good job but has never asked if I can manage financially, since I was medically retired.
It saddens me to think this is the way my 13 year old nice is being brought up - she has no sense of the value of money and can spend it quicker than water.
She has little idea of how little money I live on and that's the only way I have spare money to give her presents.
She no longer wants to come and stay with me in the holidays, probably because she thinks I try to restrict what she can do and won't pay stupid prices for trips out or meals0 -
CoD Ghosts.
I got pre order Xbox and PS3 yesterday in my local and got 2000 points. I went and got one of each again today but went to self service till. Although it seemed to go through it needed authorisation. SA saw what it was for and said I should go to electrical desk. I said it was ok as it was just for pre order and that it will just print off the receipts etc. Well I paid and no separate CoD receipt. She took me to CS. I told her to just refund and I would buy another time. Well she must have refunded without deducting my points then put it through again in new transaction. It went through fine and only now when I have checked my new receipt it says you could have gained 2000+ points. Do you think I could take this receipt to CS at different Tesoc and ask for my points to be added?

It is definitely a guilty pleasure. I completely understand hiding it from some people as it does have something of a stigma attached to it, being seen as 'cheap'.
But then there's nothing better than having full cupboards when you're a little short of cash due to an unexpected bill or having to fork out for a new electrical appliance, as has happened here once or twice.
I think we all experience the 'it's stupid/selfish/greedy having all this stuff' followed by 'my shopping bill is so high each month' or whatever. With the Facebook pages such as 10 Ways, it's not that difficult to stock up for very little effort these days.

Oh i really feel for you Cici... can't you do an A online shop? It's a £25 spend but you could do 2 x 12 baby foods (£12) and then maybe 2 boxes of nappies or heavy fruit and veg to build up your spend. Make sure you put no substitions though and if the baby food doesn't turn up, i think you could turn the order away.....
It does however mean that your APG would be to use online, not in store
Careful if you do 2 x baby food then it will pick up the Adsa discount on 12 of themand you'll just have 10 odd ones
