You don't just get a diagnosis from the gp because your child can be naughty. No wonder there is so much bad publicity around ADHD with people spouting such rubbish.

Erm, no need to be rude. I was pointing out that as it only the OP's opinion that the boy has ADHD, and as far as we are aware, he doesn't get enough sleep, doesn't interact properly with parents, and is obviously running rings around his mother, then maybe, his parents have just let him run riot. I have a 4 year old. I know how much his behaviour deteriorates after even one or two days of insufficient or poor sleep. I dread to think what he would be like if he was sleeping badly nightly, and doing nothing other than watching telly/playing games. Even the best behaved child of that age quite literally needs to let off steam.

I think the point I was trying to make is that many people, myself included, get fed up of people ASSUMING that if a child is badly behaved there is some sort of illness behind it. 99% of the time there isn't, there is bad parenting or what I like to call "child being a pain in the derriere" syndrome behind it.

Please, I took pains to tell you that he is NOT abused or neglected. perhaps I didn't put it across very well, his mum loves him! during the day she spends time with him, they go out as a family, all the normal things! they seem such a normal nice family! except I can hear him 'winding mum up' all day, he is impulsive and I think she keeps the front door locked to stop him running out into the street (that happened once a while back). I just think that by the time his bedtime comes round the girl is exhausted. they need help. this lad shouldn't be on the computer for so long.
