  • Also, the original note mentioned house rules.... Are there any "house rules" that you've all agreed to, or is this just a reference to HIS rules?!

I don't go leaving dishes expecting him to clean it up for me so why should he expect me to clean it for him? I just found a small bowl of frothy mouldy thing. Not even sure what it is. I'm guessing it might be soup or lasagne and it belongs to my housemate, who hasn't returned yet.

So when he returns he should find it in his bed maybe with a nice note about it growing legs and putting itself there.

Seriously tell this tool to foxtrot oscar, he has no power. If he doesnt like it he can leave. If he gets aggressive call the police.

No, sure, I agree with you. What I asked was: are there any "house rules" that you all agreed to when you moved in (e.g. domestic chores roats etc etc). I ask this because you say he mentioned the house rules when he had a go at you, so I am wondering if these even exist, or whether they are made up rules in his head....

If the latter, then perhaps you could suggest sitting down with him and mutually agreeing some house rules....It may calm things a little if he feels you are listening to him, but also you are calmly and firmly putting forward your own ideas about how to maintain a tolerable living environment for everyone?

(And then just fantasise about piling his mouldy dishes in his bed)

H|ouse rules arent exactly enforceble! so what does it matter if they exist or not.
  • They'd be enforceable if when they were drafted, everyone agreed to abide by them, or be made to leave. If everyone had input in this and it was all mutually agreed there shouldn't be any reason for someone to have a problem with this.

Incidentally, I wonder if the passive/aggressive thing is a particularly British thing. I think we wait too long to do anything for fear of losing our cool when the subject is broached..
It's like we need to wait and be annoyed for so long to get the motivation to say something, by which time we can't help but go postal.
I have a particularly terrible story about finally telling someone (loudly and indirectly as only we know how) in a theatre to stop kicking my chair.... They weren't doing it on purpose.. and I am going to hell.

    :starmod:you're awesome.. act like it:starmod:
