    Which law would that be?

discrimination act not law but a act of parliament (to be exact)

he's actively descriminating against forein dirvers who have non uk numberplates.

    descrimination act applies there.

The reason I was told for pay at pump not being common in the UK is because the petrol stations depend more on shop purchases for profit so want you to come in and be tempted by expensive water and chocolate.

And that also explains why large supermarkets often do have PATP. Because in supermarket petrol stations the food etc.. is the same price as in the store. And many people shop in the store when they have filled up, and vice versa.

I often get my weekly shop from Asda's petrol station.

They love me when they are weighing everything at the till.

The 5p off coupon works well.

If you pay cash you collect the cash balance - if on card the transaction is corrected to the actual amount.

In Tescos ? that was what the question was about

No: his acts are perfectly legal. The owner of a bar is entitled to insist upon a dress code, since would-be customers are free to put on clothes that meet the dress code. Equally, a Somali or American driver is free to hire a UK-registered car and then would be welcome to pay as British customers do, while a British person driving a vehicle registered in Somalia would be required to pay before pumping.

Just to be clear, I asked whether the fuel station manager's actions were legal. I'm not sure either way, but suspected they might not be. I can't quite decide whether I think they should be or not either, I can see both points of view.

Can I respectably ask you to read what I actually put in my post as opposed to the way you have interpreted it. The key word is "would"

Another example of thieves making life just that little bit more difficult for honest people. I really do hate thieves.

I did specifically post to clarify what you meant. Different people will use and interpret the word 'would' in different ways in the context that you employed it. For example consider the sentence, 'When I lived in Southampton I would regularly enjoy gigs at The Brook.' I did do this, and use of the word 'would' in this way is far from atypical.

Apologies for misinterpreting what you wrote.
