OP - I'm 10 weeks and haven't seen a midwife or had my scan yet, so unless you have a particularly helpful GP you might not get any advice for weeks. Ring the reception and ask them what you should do when you find you are pregnant.

You can take a pregnancy vitamin or take folic acid and vitamin D on it's own for the whole of the pregnancy (I think you need 400mug and 10mug but you should double check). Also make sure you're careful what medications you take as paracetamol is fine but asprin/ibuprofen usually isn't. You also now need to be very careful in order to not catch listeria, salmonella or toxoplasmosis which involves washing fruit/veg/salad, not eating raw egg, avoiding undercooked meat and all pate.

There's a less than 12 weeks pregnant thread is very helpful if you want to say hi and ask some questions.
Don't listen to me, I'm no expert!

I am assuming i need to make a doc appointment to get it all confirmed and book a scan??
As has been said, you don't need a doctors appointment to confirm the result as they won't test you again if you've tested positive.
You can get a false negative on a home-testing kit (e.g. it can sometimes say not pregnant when you are pregnant) but you can't get a false positive (i.e. if it says you are pregnant then you are pregnant).
Any help from this point on would be greatly appreciated as i do not have a clue
But if you don't know all the rules, what you should be taking, etc, I think you should see a medical professional before your first midwife appointment.

As far as I am aware, everything you have been told on this thread is correct. I.e. you shouldn't take vitamin A, you should take folic acid, etc. But you should _never_ take medical advice from strangers on an internet forum. And I certainly don't think you should when pregnant without "a clue".
So go and see a GP or nurse and get them to tell you all the things you should and shouldn't be doing.

    [Congratulations, by the way.]

(My first clue was vast tits.)
Congratulations! Take folic acid ("frolic acid" in our household, ahem) & Don't Worry if none of the medics get at all excited - they start to pay attention about week 12.
Both of you will have Hurrah! & OhGodsWhatHaveIDone? moments but do your best to read up. Knowledge is great for stopping pain. Carry a notebook & jot down Every Question. And every reply.
Insofar as you can, keep quiet until 18 weeks - you'll both have had a chance to settle into the idea a bit & it's a nice safe babe-to-be. That may seem a bit odd here, but it may save fuss later.
So, eat sensibly, rest up & all the very best of luck!
