It was mainly for my use, my dad also has another policy on his car with the same insurer, so I am pretty much screwed myself and screwed my dad up

Is your car Insured in your dad's name?

    So you were fronting?

Anything else to disclose to get you into even more trouble?

How can I make a case , i tried to make a case but they where having none of it, My cousin works for the ombudsman so I can get advice from him

Them "having none of it" is par for the course, it's why the FOS is so busy.

As for how to make a case, have a read of the links I gave, talk to your cousin and take it from there

Just had a mechanic down he said all I need is a bumper and new headlight there are small scuffs and dents which can be repaired , a good bumper is around £50 inc delivery , or I may just repair it and sell it for 2.9k which pays off my loan and leaves me with some change

You living in cloud cuckoo land if you think you can sell your car for £2900.

Even before the accident it would not be worth that.

Also you wont get away with just a headlight and bumper. The wing has been pushed back almost touching the door ( I expect it catches IF you can open the door). Also the wing is bulging out on the arch and creased, so would expect some inner wing damage. Plus the bonnet is damaged.

I would say you need to find a new mechanic, as he is talking out of his !!!, to say it only needs a bumper and headlight.

So your looking at getting the front end painted at least.

As said above the insurance company will chase you( or your dad) for any money they have to pay out for the vehicle you hit.

The fact you was the main driver of your car, but your Dad was down as the main user and you as named driver to get cheaper insurance, is called fronting and is illegal.

Might of seemed a good idea at the time, but now your Dad with be paying hefty premiums for the rest of his life.

And no, the car isn't registered on MID ;)

It depends on the questions asked but if you can make a case that the non disclosure was inadvertent or innocent then do so as it will probably get your insurance reinstated so claims would be paid as normal and you don't have have a cancelled policy (££££) on your record.

    Have a read of a http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u..._insurance.htm & http://www.financial-ombudsman.org.u...disclosure.htm & http://ombudsman-decisions.org.uk/viewPDF.aspx?FileID=6196

Make a case? Not a prayer.

Its a simple open and shut case. The insurance was obtained by deception (fraud).

The dad was down as main driver, with the OP as named when they were the main driver. That is a blatant lie.

It was not inadvertent or innocent, It was an outright lie to obtain cheaper insurance, Which has now come back and bit them on the !!!.

The financial ombudsman will tell them to sling their hook.

As you can tell, not an ounce of sympathy from me. Shame about the Dad getting involved, but he knew what he was doing and took the risk.

I wonder how many extra thousands he will be paying out in the next 20-30 years.

Op has said the dad is the policy holder, not that he's stated as the main driver.

So maybe op can answer the question of who is listed as the main driver before we jump to conclusions?

    And, what does that prove?

A 4 month driving ban for Careless Driving - just how careless were you to get a ban?
So now you've had another accident due to another case of careless driving on your part, the insurance has been cancelled because you failed to disclose your driving ban, and now it turns out that you were party to a case of 'fronting' on the said insurance.
To be blunt, the place for you is off the road, so the rest of us law abiding, careful motorists can feel that bit safer

As someone currently laid up and feeling like !!!! as the result of a similarly irresponsible driver with a similar driving conviction history, I have to wholeheartedly agree.

People who don't take responsibility for the fact that a car can be a deadly weapon when not driven properly shouldn't expect to be allowed on the road. And on top of the driving issues, you knowingly misled the insurance company. I pay my full premium based on honest answers, which is sky high because people round here drive like they're in the wacky races. Sorry, but I have precisely zero sympathy.

I hope the poor person you hit is okay.
