Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.

Because I'm usually wearing variations upon

    Oxblood 1412 Doc Martens
    Khaki Canvas Doc Martens
Black Studded low heeled cowboy boots with strap and buckles
    Bright yellow converse low rise
    Black Vans
    Black suede creepers
Mushroom Suede mid heeled ankle boots
    Brown suede cowboy boots
    Trainers

Along with black, green or burgundy straight jeans, T shirts, checked shirts, a grey biker jacket, blue hair and lots of mascara and eyeliner.

I've been witnessed wearing a dress roughly twice this year and might do again once in September. This will be noticed by all my mates as it just isn't something I do.

So wearing girl shoes makes a huge change - and helps when the New Fella is so much taller than I am.

(and yes, they are actually incredibly comfortable - the platform means they're actually like wearing standard heels but with a more secure base than those little teetery stiletto things. Plus they are quite wide, so don't squish anything - I have RA, so make a point of looking after my feet quite well - I wouldn't dream of trying to wear them more than occasionally, even then.)

Standard shoes make my feet hurt far, far more - pumps and courts are just agony for me, whether flat or heeled - I do have a pair of black leather wedge heeled MJs, which are saved for interviews, but I can't wait to get out of them when I have to wear the things.
I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.

  • She had only just finished her pupilage and got a bit carried away. She got away with the pin stripe gothy two piece skirt and jacket suit though.

Depends entirely on the Chambers what sort of clothing is considered appropriate when not in court / conference.

Some Chambers (like my OH's) have people turning up in anything - OH was wearing sandals, cropped khaki-coloured trousers and a T-shirt today. (He keeps a spare suit / shirt / cufflinks / work shoes in Chambers in case of emergencies). In some Chambers, a barrister not wearing a shirt with a separate collar and studs will be thought to be inappropriately attired.

Because they're some of the ugliest shoes I've ever seen!

    IMO, of course.

I've seen worse in fashion shoots but that isn't the same as coming across anyone who actually wears them!
