Ok, I will take on board all that has been advised here and apologize for wasting people's time and blaming everything else but myself. No, this isn't sarcasm, it's me taking a look at myself because I have become quite bitter and frustrated instead of really working out what I could do better. It's depressing but coming here moaning hasn't helped.

    Nicely said hubb.

I think sometimes we all ought to take a look at stock we are holding and bite the bullet and declare it a no go. I am sitting here now with a high pecentage of my available storage full of items that I can't turn a very good profit on (or can't shift) and yet I need more room for my newer lines which I am selling out of as fast as I can list.

A sensible person would just sell the low profit stuff quickly just to clear the room- but a part of me still hopes that at least some of it might have a market later in the year.

I have loads of genuine Dr Who memorabilia from the 70's which has always sold well before the revival on BBC these later years. I would have thought now it has a new audience and fan base they would sell like hot cakes. Not so.

The new fans only want stuff from David Tennant onwards, they don't even acknowledge that Dr Who existed before then. The older fans who like me remember the earlier Doctors have everything they need already.

My Sci Fi stuff is one area that fills up my storage but I am slowly dumping it.

So much has changed now Ebay and the internet have settled down. Where some things used to be hard to find if only a dozen of a thing were available, spread across the country, now that translates to 12 things being readily available, so the prices drop. Also stuff in general isn't that collectable any more, if it easy to buy any time online then the thrill of collecting dissipates.
The days of people buying something to stick in a bottom drawer for 30 years are numbered.

As for Dr. Who stuff, as above the best idea is a convention or TV collectable event. There are also loads of Dr. Who forums, so have a look there. I'm guessing a William Hartnell signed Radio Times from 1963 might be worth a bob or two.

but like David Dickinson says only in a specialist auction

Cheap as chips in a general auction ( 2 bob)
in a specialist auction ( maybe 100 bob)

The problem is the main Dr Who conventions cost a great deal of money for a stall. I looked at one last year and with all obligatory costs for a 3 day event I would have been looking at almost £400 outlay.

I started off my business with sci fi and traditionally Dr Who fans do not spend. Great deal of money as up until recently it was a UK only fan base. The newer fans that encompass the US are only interested in the newer doctors .

I do still make some money on old sci if stuff, but it tends to be non main stream programmes . A surprisingly high number of young actors died in the sci if field and as usual that means stuff associated with them commands a higher price.

dont forget we are taking about Hubb here, whos has been moaning forever.

£400 for a 3 day specialist event does not seem bad. I sell toys and looked at sunderland airshow (with me based in north east) they sell pitches 3x 3 mts so for standard 12 ft stall you need 2 pitches at £650 a pitch + accomodation so thats a lot of toys to sell just to break even.
