Virgin or BT? fibre

NEITHER offer 'fibre'. You are falling for the marketing nonsense - you'll get copper only
Well that makes me wonder what I have got as I watched the openreach engineer blow the fibre cable through to my property and as there no new green cabinets near me the FTTP I have installed and am paying for must be a myth.0 -

What a mine field its looking like BT then.0 -
What worries me about BT is when we had them for BB at work we had to call them around every 3 days to get it reset... which took about an hour each time!
I don't have the time or inclination to be doing that now...0 -
Depends on how heavily you download during the traffic management periods. VM claim only 5% of users are ever impacted.0

You only need to watch Netflix in 1080p for an hour in the evenings to trigger throttling on some of the packages.0 -
Have you looked at Plusnet?
I switched to them a couple of weeks ago, after BT screwed up my order for Infinity (long story).
Very pleased so far - just done a speedtest now, and this is with me currently downloading something in the background (from a slow server)
My flat is fairly close (100m) to the green cabinet where the fibre kit is, hence the decent speeds.
I haven't noticed any traffic management as such, just an occasional slowdown to once in a while when doing actual downloads (slowest I've seen it is around 55Meg, but that could be just general congestion on the route from Easynews. Still pretty decent..)
Friendly UK based customer service as well.
Plusnet is owned by BT, but don't let that put you off

That depends on what package you have. I used to have 120mb with them, and it was totally unlimited. Due to cost saving I am now on 30mb, and as yet I have never had my speed throttled.
If the OP id a heavy user, and wants high download speeds, then they would be better off with Virgin 120mb. But it often works out cheaper to have a phone line included, even if you don't use it.0
