Virgin or BT? fibre

Hi so I would go fibre for my internet access. Virgin have a good deal at the moment which is in this weeks money saving email but I've heard bad things about them slowing your connection if you download to much. I'm a heavy user and would not want to be throttled. I've been told BT don't do this. Can anyone advise?
Thanks
Thanks

Virgin throttle badly at times and I know many people who get dreadful dropouts and high pings, possibly because Virgin are oversubscribed in their area.
Many people used to go with Virgin because you could only get ADSL elsewhere but no fibre is available from BT and many others I'd steer well clear personally.0 -

So are you saying stay clear of BT as well? Thanks0 -
Sorry that was meant to say 'now fibre is available from BT...'. BT aren't bad but it depends what other services you have as to what the best choice for you may be, if you have Sky TV then getting fibre and telephone from Sky could be the cheapest option for you for example.0

I just want fibre no land line if possible but what ever is cheaper and more reliable.0 -
BT only allow Telephone and Internet together (no internet only).. Only Virgin provide Internet Only. Also Cheap & Reliable dont always go together..
Consider if you are likely to move at all during the Contract!
Seem to see a lot on here that get a service at one address, move within the contract term but feel aggrieved when the service isnt available at the new property and they have a termination fee to get out...luketraceyuk wrote: »I just want fibre no land line if possible but what ever is cheaper and more reliable.0 -

I don't mind paying a bit more so is BT better then for fibre?0 -
I've spent the day looking at reviews for Virgin and BT Infinity.
There are horror stories for both, I was coming to post on here the same question as you...
It would appear that's its just pure luck, and if things start to go wrong with either of them they'll just keep going wrong for the length of your contact...
My problem is, I need a reliable connection of at least 8 meg down stream for work and I can't afford to have it go down for days on end. I'm with BE at the mo, but they've just been sold to Sky, and there are the horror stories about them as well !!!!
It seems there are no reliable BB company's in the UK at the moment?0 -

NEITHER offer 'fibre'. You are falling for the marketing nonsense - you'll get copper only, and VM will provide up to 120Mb and no phone line either.0
