RA typically seem to take 6/7 weeks to pay. They are very random on their payments Not worth bothering with IMHO unless you are in the area and passing the front door and are happy to wait weeks to get back their low fees.

    That is fairly standard.

Your car has failed an MOT, you don't get the last two weeks to run around with an unroadworthy car I'm afraid. Be very careful as you will be uninsured.
Yes, you can. My insurance is still valid until the day the current cert expires.

The garage was totally cool with me taking it away after they put the spare tyre on so it was road legal. The exhaust system is gubbed, so it failed on emissions, but that does not make it unroadworthy per se.

Rubbish. An MOT failure does not invalidate your current MOT. If the garage had failed it on something that is classed as dangerous then it cannot be used on the road again until its fixed. Remember though it is illegal to drive a car knowing it to be in a dangerous state so depending on what it failed on would depend if you should use it. If what BG is saying was true then every person that takes their car for an early MOT is driving around illegally!

Not done one but know the company well. Would not do one of the jobs for 3x the fee.

I did a car buying job last month - definitely worth it. The place was close to me so the whole job inc getting there and back only took an hour.

I felt very guilty though as I was chatting about my commission based job with the agent and he said he has crazy targets - they have to sell to one in three people - even if they cancel the appointment that still counts against him even though he's never even spoken to the person!
