Still plenty of hanging around in my area. Some at increased fees, some not.

Problem there is accounting your work and personal mileage separately, otherwise you're basically awarding yourself a benefit in kind of personal miles in an expensed vehicle, something the tax man can be very hot on.

I used to have a personal car and an expensed work van, but I was robbing myself because the van cost peanuts to run, so now I just do the fixed price per mile and drive what suits. Although to be fair, I should technically claim a lower rate for the bike.

Its not that hard, when 99.5% of all my mileage IS work :(

If you are being paid for the meal and getting a fee, then in my case I am liable to pay tax on both the fee and the cost of the meal, as this is a 'benefit in kind'. In the case of MF the fee generally does not cover the cost of petrol or print costs or time to fill in the report and with the issue of having to pay for the extra meal I don't bother with these assignments as in effect its costing me to conduct an assignment for MF. Others may well see it differently as one meal is being subsidised, but for me I am doing MS work to generate another income.

In general I agree with you but there are times when you can do a few jobs and add in a freebie lunch from MF, a winner for me.

Ok so none of the cost of the meal can be included as my expenses ? Even though 50% of the food and drink bill will be for my guest since I have to take someone with me on the trip?

This is why those who do this seriously avoid those jobs, they are a nightmare to keep records on and aren't worth the fee involved.

Hi, I had contatced TNS about not receiving any payment today, but it's been resolved and I know why.

However they did advise that payments are made - Just once a month unless there is a special requirement for the project which causes it to be run twice. This is quite unusual though.

So I seem to have been advised by TNS that it is different and not like the twice as explained in the start of this thread. So perhaps maybe needs to be updated.

This is wrong, I have been getting twice monthly payments for ages.

Guys, can you do a mixture of both? For example, choose the simple method for your home costs then separate costs for your vehicle, or vice versa?

It's just that I do my home costs separately, but do my vehicle costs the simplistic way.

Yes, that is what I am doing. I ran it past HMRC first and they say its fine.

Big Graeme it was payroll that advised this. They said the cut of date is the 15th of the mnth each month. I have only had 1 payment on the 28th January and have been told by payroll the next pay run is 28th March for payment. Just wanted to let people know incase like me they where expecting a payment before then. I would be over the moon if its paid before then x

Was it for a phone job or something else?

Can't wait for tomorrow when they allegedly release their jobs! All I can see is flowers and health shops at the moment. Unless you use the health shop, can't see the attraction...

Can I conclude that it is a load of "bull" that RA release jobs on a Friday despite the various PR emails that say this is the case as there are still the same jobs sitting on the board in my area for the last three weeks ie health shops and flowers....

Hi Tolteca87, I've only done phone visits and have quite afew booked in for the next couple of weeks. I had went along with the post at start of this thread and one of my aunts also said she is paid twice a month. But I wanted to double check as I have only had one payment in the last 8 weeks. Could be because I am only with them this side of the year? Perhaps olders shoppers on a twice the month run?

Would be interested to know, just for my own and others future reference. x
