HMRC has now simplified the claiming of expenses when using your home and the things in your home.

You can choose to ignore them and claim more, you'll just have to justify wheat you claim if asked. They do make life easy if you are unsure though.
Do you know if the flat rate mileage includes car insurance too please Graeme?0 -
Just seen on their website that GAP payments for Jan are delayed until first week of March - thought there was something going on as they should have gone in yesterday according to their payment FAQs.0

Yup, everything.
You'd need to work out for yourself which is best for you and you need to stick with ot as long as you have that car.
My insurance is very low and I know my car is 14p per mile to run at the moment so the all inclusive rate works for me, also I am all about simplicity, I'm not bothered about paring my tax bill to the bone if it means I can submit my return and not worry about it.0 -

This is a regular thing now every couple of months, my theory is hold on to the pay for an extra week and make a week more interest..... Lets face it.... Burger company must pay in a mint alone and they have a cheek to say have a fantastic weekend!!!!0 -

The simplicity thing is attractive, but financially its better for me to do other way, with running and maintenance costs and higher insurance my biggest factors, plus I'm stuck doing it this way . 14p a mile would be a dream but with a 2.5l and the mileage/tyres/servicing I get through, not a chance :rotfl:0 -

Yeah they don't suit everyone, I'm looking at the working from home figures and thinking I could justify a slightly higher amount0 -
