I've just had another awkward gap burger. I'm sure they must have sent round a pic of me in the area. I've done 2 visits in the last 2 weeks both dine in in restaurants I've not done a gap visit before.

Poor guy in front of me had to wait for my meal to be served before he had his. The crew member shouted gap quarter when serving me. I sat down to eat and had three people cleaning around me waiting for me to finish so they could take my tray.

Ive not done the report yet and not sure if I should be honest and say what actually happened. I couldn't get out of the place quick enough it was so uncomfortable.

I've had this happen to me a few years ago, the guy shouted gap as soon as I got to the till before I ordered.... So it does happen. The regional manager had taken a rap over some poor results and wanted other stores to do better so a CCTV pic was sent around...according to the gap investigation
I'm still not allowed to do norm gap burger jobs now this many years on, only late night special visits. Didn't sack me for it though
  • We order standard stuff and ask for a receipt. The results are worthless because our orders trigger certain behaviours. When I take my children, it's an entirely different story. It is time that the scenario changed.

Definitely the asking for a receipt suggests you're MSing. If they could come up with some sort of alternative, it would help throw the restaurant staff off the scent a wee bit.

However, when it comes to timings, I don't think it makes any difference at all if they suspect you're MSing. By the time you ask for the receipt, the timings are done and dusted.

Tell me about it, I joined the shortest line of two registers that were open today and realised I was stood behind two of the most indecisive men I've ever seen. I considered moving to the other line but that had the family from hell with more kids than I could count and a huge complicated order. Then I had to wait for my food to be cooked, great.

Can just see the timings are going to get questioned :(

I'm finding that I am regularly asked if I want a receipt when I place my order. I don't shop in them enough otherwise to remember if that is standard practice or not.

I think they are asking when you order certain items in the brief, to get the hint earlier, I've had this asked when ordering for my self, but not if I alter the item eg no sauce

I once had a restaurant management complain to GAP that I hadn't stood in the shortest queue. Wouldn't mind but there's only one queue and, at busy times, when you get to the head of the queue, you then get told which smaller queue to go to. I told GAP this and never heard anymore :D

Yeah, definitely recall when visiting a restaurant for the very first time ever (so no way they knew me) I was asked if I wanted a receipt, when I said yes, a shout went up. Didn't say GAP but defo an indication that I was a potential MSer.

I feel sorry for the people working in these places

But most jobs get monitored in some way. My last job they could see on the computer what you were doing at any time. They could also get printouts of everything you had done and how long you had taken. I had no problems with that as it highlighted the skivers and the cherry pickers.

The burger staff get bonuses for reaching targets. I'm sure the workers themselves in the clean, quick branch would be annoyed if the dirty, lazy, slow branch two miles down the road was getting the same bonuses every month.
