Stumpy wrote:Not impressed with their closing down sale - tried to get a toastie maker thing before, reduced from around £13 to about £3 - now it says, for the same one, that its half price, but it isn't - they've only knocked just over £1 off it. Grrr.
Edit: in fact, there are a lot of things marked "half price" but then only have something like 80p knocked off. And they're not normally £1.60!!

also remember if your purchase breaks down what happens then?
When I asked in index they said that you can take stuff back until they close the shop down. I asked when they would be closing, they weren't sure but they think it would be july.0 -
Just got back from my local Index. Managed to bag a 3 in 1 foot massager for £7.19 down from £19.990

Sign in shop today said that 16 Day returns facility doesn''t apply to anything sold after Thursday 26th May 2005.
After that date, you're covered only by Sale of Goods Act and manufacturer's warranty.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
My Index has taken all the sale stickers off items and left remains of the stickers with the 'was ****' price on it but no 'now ****' price. They just now ahve a percentage off depending on what the item is. I checked on the instore checker some items that i wanted from the sale leaflet and they had stock of all five items but at a much greater price than the leaflet. I went to pay for them and because i had the sale leaflet (where things were very much reduced even more than half price) she said she would have to let me have them at the sale price and on the receipt put them through as 'managers discount.' Without that leaflet though i would have had to pay full price. So im keeping hold of this leaflet until the 25th May (prices valid until then as stated on the back) in case i need anything else. My best bargain today was the shower which should have been £79.99 and was only £29.99. Dont know how long it will be sitting around for though before getting fitted!!!0

Just a word of warning to anyone using the Index 'Click & reserve" facility.
I got some great bargains on the first couple of days they they started Clearance Sale, nearly 90% off, or at least I thought. Out of Stock online but I found them in stock at my local Index. So, after getting my Reservation Number I went there armed with a hard copy of the online details. Only to find InStore the prices were totally different !
On top of which the Index Reservation form unlike Argos does not print the prices, so you'll struggle gettting the staff to honour them.
An example was Multimeter which was advertised @ 2.99 a week ago but 8.99 instore, which is a slight price difference :rolleyes:0 -
Went into my Index today and ordered two Playboy watches which were £39.99 but in sale are £36.99. I told the women i had the sale leaflet in which they are £20.99 so she said she would have to call someone over and check. When the women came she said 'sorry but the prices have all changed and you cant have it at that price'. So i told her i had been in the day before and they had to let me have them at that price and they needed to put it through as managers discount. She didnt argue at all and just done what was needed on the till and i got them both for £20.99 each. You have to let them know they are not always right and get what you are entitled to. I heard another lady say someone else ahd been in with the leaflet and they had to let those prices go through as its something to do with false advertising otherwise. So anyone who has a leaflet and gets told those prices are not valid tell them where to go!!! And make sure you keep your leaflet in case theres anything else you want. Ive got 4 birthdays this week which is why ive been buying.0
