Didn't need to sleep on it and made the decision. I have paid £47.79 so far on my Evans account this month- so just transferred £52.21, £100 in a month. About the same to go and it will be paid off next month.
The remaining £27.79 of the mazuma money got rounded up to £30 and transferred into my emergency fund.

Well very nearly another nsd - 10p given to someone who got on the bus with 10p short of there bus fare. Meant he didn't have to walk home - would hope someone would do the same for me if I was in that position.
Got home to an unexpected bill - paid of my credit cards with a loan last year and its interest, hope I don't get many more as I've not factored it in this month.
I also have overdraft charges to pay next month, it expected as I have been really good and not touched my overdraft this month, but realised its for last month. So this months charges wouldn't be collected until October... Just shows how little notice I took of things. Not any more I shall be checking everything.Save £12k in 2014 #080 £0/£8,000.

Hopefully the man you helped was grateful and will pay it forward
I too had an unexpected bill today, vets bill... Poor pooch has had a reaction and needed treatment, bless. Bill so far is already more than the insurance excess and we have to go back next week.
Luckily it's a treatable thing and not a prolonged condition!
Feeling a bit like I've taken a step backwards today though.
Onwards and upwards!

Aww bless is he okay, it's hard when your pets are poorly. Hope the vet sorts him out soon and that the bill isn't too big.
I did have my cat insured and then stopped and started putting money away every month in case she needed vets treatment however that's been used ( if you ask me what on - wouldn't have a clue!) so suppose us the time from next month to start building up a Mabel fund again.
You haven't taken a step backwards - you have done what's required.
You constantly inspire me and keep me on track and once I feel more knowledgable I intend to pay it forward.
Thank you again xxSave £12k in 2014 #080 £0/£8,000.

Pets are so vulnerable and completely dependent on us so I always make sure she is ok. I would blow all my savings for her and max out the cards too if that's what it took.
I'm certain she will be right as rain soon enough and I can get back on the MSE wagon
Thanks for your kind words, sometimes it's not about the knowledge, but about the support xLife gets in the way...PADding is addictive...Saving's better than spending...My savings diary - Now for a healthier, wealthier me2025 1p challenge #41 | Cash envelope challenge #01 | SPC #017Sealed pot 2025 £7390 | EF £1000/£1000 | Sabbatical £3677/£6000 | Travel savings £1832 | Sinking pots £31070 -
I totally agree about pets, taking on a pet you have to be willing to take on the respsibility of them and that includes everything. Like you I would do anything for Mabel and she is one very spoilt tubby cat that I love to bits. She is a constant when everything else around me has been manic and she is part of my family.
Hope he bounces back quickly xxSave £12k in 2014 #080 £0/£8,000.

Checked my online banking this morning and my extra current account is showing. I wanted an account that all my bills came out of and then another account that still has a debit card function that I can transfer food money and treat moneys to. I shall then use this card for all my day to day purchases.
Will still keep a spend diary as u really feel as though that's helped this month.
Anyway hope the card and pin arrive by pay day ( still two weeks to go so plenty of time)

Apologies for lack of responses, I have had a mental few days! Was out from 6:45am yesterday and didn't get home until 10:15pm... pooped is an understatement!
Managing to keep focused and determined as I am sure you are too, the separate account will certainly help you keep track. I don't think my bank offers that service

Hi hunny, wow long day, hope today has been easier. How is your four legged friend, is he any brighter?
Had a bit of a rough day feeling sorry for myself and being angry with myself for being in this position. I overspent yesterday (takeaway), my niece came over and we were meant to go halves on the takeaway but as she brought wine I couldn't ask her. So from that, part of me doubted my commitment another part of me acted like a child - not fair, with pet lip out!!
I have come on a here instead and read some of a girl named jack and made me realise - I'm really not that badly off. Yes I can't afford to buy anything and everything but I have a roof over my head, I have enough money for electricity, hot water, food ( maybe not waitrose but not all value either). I don't have people ringing or harassing me for money. I can sleep soundly without worrying that a bailiff will knock. I have a secure job and the knowledge that my financial worries are a temporary situation and for that I'm grateful .
So next time I'm wallowing I shall look back on this post and give myself a good shake.
