It was our Christmas party last night too. Was a lot more fun than I expected. The dancefloor was packed from as soon as dinner was over until we were taxi'd back home.0 -

Is this some sort of skin problem, or is it spinal? Is it a breed problem?
I read that lions and other big cats suffer a lot from spinal problems. It's all that leaping onto the backs of other animals and then being bucked around. An occupational hazard. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

Spinal. Age really. There is a propensity to it in big dogs, long dogs.......and special girl horse most likely had a sudden onset of something similar at the end.
Its more common in over weight animals...and its hard to control big dogs weight, but its been pretty good since I took over, il'm more than happy now.
Big dog reaches the upper year of her life expectancy this year. For a dog that was not fit to breed from by responsible breeders IMO that's a good achievement. After ther operations for her original issues she has only been to the vets for minor gripes and then pain killers/antispasmodics (antidepressants) for this. I'm hoping the stuff to IGHT will let her sleep. I can feel her neck is stiff but its all to risky to massage their, too fragile and more harm than good could be done by me.
A good animal physio kept big dogs great aunt going for a couple of years with the same thing, but......she was a different person.
Big dog is in many ways a bit feral, a bit institutionalised. She's not like dog dog who cooperated with me brilliantly through dressing changes for the broken limbs, she's a worried and she panics.
My plan with her is clear, if it doesn't respond quickly to drugs in an episode my decision will me made.0 -

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

This afternoon I took DD to the "Christmas Gathering" for families who've been helped by these people. Am pleased to see how much better she coped with it than the first time we went, three years ago.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Well, I'm sorry for Big Dog. Backs can be awful. I once fainted from the pain of a bad back. If you can't cure her, the kindest thing is to put her out of pain's reach. Still, it must be an awful decision to have to make, so I'm sorry for you too.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I can hear bangs going on outside. Sounds like fireworks, although there's nothing to see out of my window. (Haven't bothered to try windows on the other side of the house, though. Is there something going on that we would expect people to do fireworks for this weekend? Or has the invasion started?Do you know anyone who's bereaved?
