Currently stuck on a trolley in a hospital room; average speed 0mph. My operation went well though - they did it under sedation rather than general anaesthetic. The surgeon said before hand it would be like a "triple gin and tonic". Not sure what gin he is drinking but I didn't even realise the operation had happened.
Do we call you Womble now?

What people don't understand about being told to evacuate or stay is that you choose and stick with it. They think if they choose to evacuate in 2-3 hours, at the peak of troubles they can be rescued on demand .... doesn't work like that. You chose; you stick it out. Once the choice timeslot has gone the resources aren't available to achieve assistance.

Actually, I am in a hospital which is about 10 metres away from Wimbledon Common so that seems appropriate.
My new stalker app's working quite well then :)

Parents now being evacuated, have managed to get them a hotel room in our best hotel.

Not ideal, but probably an awful lot better than getting wet feet. Hope their house is OK.

Yes, would get another tower if not fixable.

regarding the photo's, I'd probably put them on at least 3 different memory sticks to avoid this happening ever again.:)

How old is the broken tower?

The chances are that the photos are still perfectly safe on the hard drive. I'd avoid messing with the tower until the hard drive has been removed.

For future reference, Google gives you 15GB of online storage. That's enough for backing up an awful lot of photos!
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Sorry! I'd already gone before you posted. The heart one is lovely, but I wouldn't recommend giving anything heart-shaped to a woman unless you intend her to think you're romantically interested, or you are absolutely certain she'll understand that you aren't. It's not that it would always be interpreted that way, but I think you are the kind of bloke who wouldn't want any misunderstanding.

I'd want to know how big the balls are before I'd know what age of girl/woman they'd suit, but I'm with NDG in preferring the simpler, "single crystal" things rather than the "lots of little ones" stuff.
    GO AWAY;)

I went, but now I'm back. :) Catching up now and replying in threes.
Btw, I took your advice and put in action earlier. I am faced with the results of this infront of me and am planning to pack it away tonight.

Good. I took your advice too.
    I had another thought too......

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

  • My middle name goes perfectly with the dreaded surname in question - but it's outrageously Victorian / Edwardian, and not remotely Jewish (-:

My paternal grandmother and her 4 sisters were named of their times (1899 to 1913) and were Clara (pronounced, as it was then, Clare-a, not Clarr-a), Maria (pronounced Mariah), Violet, Phyllis, and Florence.
