Flood warning for my parents for tonight. I thought they would get one when the news kept going on about 1953 affected places being hit again...back in 1953, their house was flooded to halfway up their stairs and their neighbour had to be rescued from her roof.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I think my pc has died. Had a scenario where it worked for 20 mins or so & would then cut out.
The cutting out suggested it was over heating, or something shorting. Tried using compressed air to clear out the dust (there was a lot) however now it won't even boot up.
Main thing I want to get is the photos off there!

Problem now is what to do. Where is a good/reliable place for pc repairs that doesn't cost the earth?

But, but, but! You don't need to repair it at all. All you need is to remove the hard disk. Then either put that in another PC or put it in a USB hard disk enclosure.

I'm afraid that PC repair costs can exceed the value of an old machine. Can you describe in some detail what it is? Also, what other PC hardware do you have around?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

  • Sue, are your parents moving as a precaution? Are you and the boys in a safe place?

Parents are not evacuating at the moment, they are just going to move important things upstairs and take provisions up in case the house does get flooded and they need to be rescued.

If an evacuation order does come into play, then I doubt they will get a choice.

We are fairly safe where we are, there is a slight risk from the marshes but we are outside of the flood warning/threat zone by about half a mile and above sea level, unlike my parents who are slap bang in the flood warning area and below sea level (the road slopes downwards from the actual sea front)

Oh heck LJ, that's not good.

Gave up any attempts at floral displays years ago, I don't have artistic flare and any display invariably looked like a 5 year olds attempt.

It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.
