I'm still very much stuck in the 20th century on the mobile front. Last year, I got this:

    uk_GT-E2550SKAXEU_001_Front?$L2-Gallery$

Was around £30 on Amzon, unlocked, sim free.

I had two of those phones - but never for more than a couple of days, they went straight to CEX/eBay as I was only interested in the contract they came with.

PN sounds like you are getting there with the phone. With exisiting SIM in new phone you just need to be careful re data charges as you may be on a tariff where these get very expensive very quickly. T-mobile may or may not swap your sim for a small one for free, otherwise you can cut it down with scissors using the new mini tesco one as a template. When you are at tmobile try and get them to give you a small to large adaptor for free so you can still use the sim in your old phone if you need to.

You may be able to use your current phone as a 'network signal checker' somewher ein the menus there will be the optin to manually search for a network which will let you see which networks are visible where you live although not how string they are. Your new phone may be even beter for this if your current phone is only 2G.

    Summarising:
    Get hold of new phone
Get hold of small sim not on Tesco mobile (if it is your current tmobile sim also get an adaptor so you can still use it in your old phone)
    Purchase unlock code on ebay
Put in non-tmobile sim and switch on new phone entering purchased unlock code when requested.
Set up phone with new gmail account

It is cold here today again (although not freezing) except for in the fridge which has frozen my tomatoes - freezing tomoatoes does not improve them :(

It's cold and unwelcoming out there.... if you go out you come back colder! I get serious ear-ache in the cold/wind. Vicious ear-ache.

Me too but I don't worry about my hair so wear a beenie as soon as it gets below about 10 degrees.

Since LIR responded to this, I will too.

"moving around" ... where to? 4' forward, or 4' to the left? There's nothing to do when I stand up except ... sit down again.

    Exactly, dance.

    It is wonderful.

Congrats on getting the phone, PN. Hope you get it up and running soon.

I'm honoured because 4 of them probably are:

    - wheezy home
    - wheezy work
    - wheezy mobile
    - wheezy mum

    ;)
I don't even know which county you live in :)

Is it just your ear or your face too?

Me too. I start wearing a hat quite early in the season. When we hit proper winter, I have a couple of fleecy ski headband/ear cover things which I wear under my hat as my ears still get cold and painful. They're a godsend.

Home from dietician. She was nice but utterly useless. She said, it looks like you can only safle eat potatoes, tuna, chicken and lamb. I said I'd pretty much worked that out but don't like to eat too much protein ( or potatoes ) and have been feeling better for ten days or so.

She said.....its actually pretty amazing what your body is doing and I cried.

Pretty genius..... as I've never been skiing I didn't know such things existed. I could probably make something out of a pair of old tights. Knot the feet on top of my head under a hat.

That would probably work, as long as you wear the hat, okay? :rotfl:

They're not at all expensive in the right shops. I probably paid £4 for mine in a Milletts type shop. There's some for about that on ebay, including postage. Make sure they have the extra bit of fabric that covers ears properly.

Need an app for that smartphone so I can key in the name Milletts... then when I am walking within 100 yards of one the phone alerts me and says a message "Milletts - head/ear thing" on the screen.

I bet you could write one, the sdk is free.
