Goodness. Everyone is entitled to their privacy, which makes it difficult for neighbours, it doesn't look like much could have been done to prevent what happened, but six months? Not seeing a neighbour and then some really horrid telltale signs should have caused someone to make a call earlier. :(

I've driven through that part of England quite a few times and it looks idyllic. Nice towns, good access to London ( my workmate used to commute to London via a fast bus service).

A plague of flies in a house where the householder hasn't stepped out for ages? A body kept there for thirty years?

This however is Royston Vasey-ish. :(

Great Android spec for the price (Tesco price is30 quid cheaper than I had seen it before) but not sure about the camera. Google own Motorola so software support should be good. You could pair this with the Sony camera I linked earlier. No memory card slot though....

Edit which means you can not add to the 8gb it has built in if you find you need more space....

In what circumstances do you need more than 8GB? Just for watching films? Can you attach a USB memory stick for that?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I doubt I'd be watching films, I don't watch them on the telly.

Which leads me to the next question:

If I am standing in Tesco with a box in my hand.... then rush out to the car to unpack it ..... what do I need to do to actually make it work/get online, what's the best/cheapest way to get Internet on a phone?

Speak in simple words, I've never had/used a phone with Internet.

This is showing as in stock now.
Googled for the camera and it says "5-megapixel rear camera" - what are the pros/cons of a rear camera?

Edit: Somewhere else says it has a front facing camera.

I know next to nothing about phones, but as nobody else has answered here is my £.02 worth.

The rear camera is the main camera on the phone. You point it at things, and you can frame the photograph on the screen which is facing towards you.

If it also has a front facing camera this is quite useful for taking photographs of yourself. You can also use it for video conferencing with somebody else who is similarly equipped. I suspect that this could very rapidly use up your data entitlement on your phone contract.

You do not want to get fixated on the number of pixels, as lens quality and photoreceptor quality matter more once you get up to a reasonable number of pixels. There are other issues, such as processor speed, which affect whether there is a delay before taking photographs or after taking a photograph before you can take the next one. I would read the reviews, as your need for a camera may be more important to you than it is to the average user.

Might as well just buy it ..... after I've checked the bank and probably moved money from savings.

A well deserved, thought through treat to yourself.

So pleased you have reached a decision.

I use GiffGaff, and I expect you can find a suitable package from them for about £10 a month, may be more if you want to use a lot of the Internet.

I imagine the phone is locked to Tesco, but most of them can be unlocked quite cheaply. You may find a very good Tesco package anyway. Would you want to transfer your existing telephone number?

    HAPPY BIRTHDAY PN!!!!!!

Had a great day with the Generalissimos today. We did this:

    http://www.mudrun.com.au/mud-dash.html

They got absolutely filthy. They started off climbing over a piece of ice about the size of a bus. Then running between obstacles that were basically huge patches of mud. They (and I) had an absolute blast. I might enter the full Mud Run myself next year.

I really like the aims of this for the childrens run.

On the adult run I like the idea of the 'after party'.

I am suffering from overload. It is not just the basic JavaScript, but the HTML 5, too. There is an enormous learning curve.

I know, but that information is often hard to compare/find. I'd like an optical zoom..... with bottomless pockets.

My camera makes me wait ages. I can't really read reviews as [a] it'd take a long time and I'd still not know the answer I'd be back here in 2-3 months having not decided and posting "I've still not bought a cameraphone...."

I want somebody to say "Yes, that's perfect..... the camera's got a .... which is what you need.... and this is good ... and that is what you need ... and that is perfect .... and buy this one".

    :)
