You kind of know there's a bit more wrong than just clearing out the garden when a house that Zoopla estimates at nearly £700k, that was last sold in 2008 for £650k is now available at auction for £65k. Either the EA did a typo, or there were multiple murders ..... http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/property-41770612.html

Even if it's been used as a toxic waste dump, it might be worth finding out more?

    Lol.

I'm serious, not gf but serious wife or long term partners.

Of course, I'd like DH to have a mother, but I'd also like to know those cute little stories that his father just has no interest in remembering and are now lost.....

There is lots of Betamax,...but not of moments like this. I read all dh's old school reports and looked at his pictures etc (in some ways I'm glad his mother was a hoarder) but I don't know about the silly things that he doesn't remember. I'd love to know those things. :o. A relative was the nanny for the first year, so she has lots of the memories like that for the eldest, and the eldest remembers some of the cute things of the youngest, but dh's in the middle most are lost.....:(

Maybe he was just a boring and not cure kid :rotfl:

We have lots of knowledge about Mr S as his sister, is 8 years older than him and his dad could also give a good account. Even his sisters oldest friend knows the stories and that he was a 'treasure'.

Pictures of him show a very well scrubbed, neat skinny little boy usually sporting a home knitted jumper. Definitely a child of his time with advantage of good people as parents, encouragement at home and at school from a teacher who he still recalls with admiration making him the only boy from his school year to go to the grammar school.

He thinks he is a lucky man, as he has been and felt well loved throughout his whole life. He is also a lucky man in making it to adulthood...as a toddler he poked a knitting needle into an electric socket...and lived for others to tell the tale.

His mum was 56 and died of breast cancer, she had known she had it for some years, recognised what it was as her mother and sister had died of it, but it was in her opinion never a good time to visit a doctor (family births, weddings etc and not wanting to spoil them:(). When she finally had to see a Dr, in Sept 1983 , it was her first visit since she had given Birth to OH in October 1957. She died dec 1983.

We married in sept '83 but were in ignorance of her plight as true to form, she insisted on keeping it to OH's dad, sister and bil.

Yay! :j:beer::D about the general greatness. Boo hiss about the ankle. Hope it improves soon.

I've got UCH at t'end of the month. I'll take his advice. Its swollen, but its been doing that for years now. It might be they want to image it, check its not my brain getting confused, It might genuinely be wear and tear that my brain is over reacting about and 'overlooking' or something. I don't know if that's possible, but it sounds feasible doesn't it!:)

I certainly know that its not what I would expect to see in a critter with a seriously damaged tendon.

Might be some industrial leaks from next door ... as for renovation, I'd demolish it and build from new.

I still think it must be a typo, if it was "worth" £700k you'd get a better return by renting it out if you already owned it.

Suppose the person who was living in it died. The people who inherited it left it empty for a while, sorting out probate etc. While it was empty, the fly-tipping started and then it got trashed. Suppose the estate is shared between several heirs, who all live a long way away and have busy lives of their own. They now either have to spend a few hundred thousand quid and months of their time that they can't spare, getting it fit to sell/let, or else just auction the thing off, say with a starting price of £65k and a reserve of £350k, hope it makes a bit of money and divvy up the proceeds.

I'm only guessing, but I think that would be believable.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I nominate micheals to make an enquiry as he could sound like a developer.

NP mode off. I do not think there is [STRIKE]anything[/STRIKE] much immoral in wasting an estate agents time.

I think the bungalow must be a typo ..... there's nothing I can think of that'd devalue any property that much. Not murders, not a gypsy feud, not a drugs factory ... nothing.

It's not a typo. The auction particulars say:

    "Guide Price
    £65,000 plus

    Description
A three bedroom detached chalet bungalow in need of refurbishment throughout. The property is located within easy reach of the A3060. We understand that a substantial amount of fly tipping has taken place within the grounds of the property, and interested parties are advised to make their own enquiries and check the legal documents in this regard."

Unless the waste is toxic, it looks as though it should be clearable for a few £k. Then secure the site for another few £k. If you have the cash, it's worth a look. Think of running the clean-up operation and using your project management skills.

Google satellite view shows a neat back garden with a trampoline, which indicates a much younger family living there.

It's near an industrial unit. There may be toxic nasties or asbestos or something else that will be expensive to remove safely. The roof needs completely replacing. And we have no idea what has happened to the inside. It may need totally gutting, with new wiring, heating, plumbing etc. Also, it's an auction. £65k is not the selling price, or even the reserve price, just the starting price, like those things that are listed on ebay for 99p and actually sell for £36.74. It would be very interesting to find out how much it actually goes for when the auction happens.

Just look here, after the auction.

Think of a lone person without any experience, skills, contacts or knowledge, who is easily taken in by less scrupulous people .... and petrified that it'll be some gang-related/gypsy feud land .... and I'd wake up with a horses head on my pillow and 25 transit vans in the driveway :)
