I'm off to the High Court - the judge decided to deal with the adjournment application this morning, as the matter was already listed. So here's hoping that he does adjourn it, or it's going to be a seat-of-the-pants job!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Hmm - If you work in London then it seems like working in Inner Herts should also be possible, I will ask you to quote when it comes time to do something with the project.
I'm aso hoping an NP might be able to give me a reference to a good immigration lawyer....I think....0 -

And, not to scale - it's amazing how some 2-bed house plans make it look big, yet the two beds ate 8'x7' ....then the next one looks pokey, yet the rooms are really 10'x8'.
But, I still appreciate "a rough idea", no matter how amateurish as it can be a way to dismiss them completely. /0 -
I could work magic with small spaces - but you need budget to do that. I'll be living with what the house offers. No budget to do anything except live in it.

You haven't bought anything yet, we don't know. Also, in time, you might save to have those things. We're incredibly lucky people if we can have exactly what we want, straight away. I think most nice people have had compromises to live with until they can afford to make things the way they want them.
LIR particularly out of all of us, but lydia has also had to wait for things. Nikkster has a priority list and hers will take time. The outside of my house is AWFUL. Chewy might have to bike to the station, as well as across London each morning to be in the place he wants.
The perfect house in perfect condition in the perfect location at the perfect price may exist, but how many NP feel that they live in that? Or, if they do, that they didn't have to experience some form of discomfort to get it?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I don't mean this to sound corny, but I don't think I'd want to buy the perfect house.
(I would like to do some things now , but I quite like having little projects to look forward to for many years. Ironically I mistyped years as tears at first though.:rotfl:0 -

If we're sufficently time distanced from the last few months and LIR isn't requiring our services at the same time, we'll happily take a lookEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

What? Me a veggie? I love meat! And eat loads of it.
About raw meat....there's this place in Zaventem (near Brussels) which does the most exquisite (I hope I spelled that right!) steak americain. Using the best fillet steak, freshly minced and spiced and herbed. And a raw egg on top. Lovely.0 -

Very true. It is a matter of saving and making do. You can furnish a house from a combination of freecycle, local charity shops, auctions and gifts of second hand items from people you know. Cheap tins of paint can put most other things right. It is only shockingly bad kitchens and bathrooms that can't so easily be rectified on the cheap. ETA oh and things like the central heating system, so it is worth getting that and electrics checked. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

My point is only really about compromise. I think we nearly all compromise, but we all get by. I am worried that PN's wishes and feelings are presently so compromised and restricted, that anything currently on the 'maybe' list will be infinitely better than the living arrangements for quite a long while.
Not whittling away your house fund on rent, PN, and having your own freezer so you're not forced to eat oven chips for four days would be a good start. I'm glad things might be moving in the right direction, I just don't want to see too much 'actually perfectly good enough' on the 'no' pile.
I'm worried I'm stepping over the line of being a nice person, but the sentiment comes from the right place. I won't say anything more about it as I'm also worried about you feeling bullied into thingsEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
