I am blaming you lot and your laundry talk. Today, for no apparent reason I decided to wash our net curtains. Now washed and re-hung (they dry in situ to save ironing). This also meant I had to clean the windows, surrounds and sills. Grr!
I dislike net curtains and wouldn't have any by choice, but we have two bay windows at the front (1 bedroom + dining room), so these nets were meant to be a temporary measure until we decide. But deciding what to do in a bay window is difficult.
The nets have got to go, we got rid as soon as we moved in and followed PN down the made to measure blinds route and now the younger half of the street have all followed suit, makes the neighbourhood look so much better. You can get blinds for bay windows.I think....0 -

1. Are you planning to live alone? If so, do you need an end suite when the bathroom will be almost as close?
2. What do you want to put in your utility that can't be put in a good sized kitchen with a double sink and space for washing machine?
2. The houses I am looking at do not have good sized kitchensUtility would also be my hobbies room, for making jewellery perhaps, or washing shells from the beach, etc. Loads of uses. Hanging washing indoors.... etc. Never seen a kitchen with a double sink.... most are too small. Perfect kitchen would have a 1.5 sink ... but that's pushing it. A lot of the kitchens are 6'x7' max.

Point one, fully understand. My next door neighbour has ripped their bath out and put a shower in. Makes house less saleable, but they are designing for their retirement, so not planning to move.
On point two, it may be possible to install two basins in the bathroom, that way you can have one for you and one to do stuff, which you can link to your spare room. Have one bedroom with very little in. That way it can be your utility space. The key issue is do you need a utility room for the water supply or is there a different solution?
Maybe hold back 5 to 10k back from budget for such changes and make it work for you. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I bought one because I didn't like the thought of buying one + the solutions. There was an offer on, so I bought one. Probably would have done me good to have hired one for a weekend (would have had to do everything that weekend).0 -
I was so impressed by the quality of my cheap blinds I have gone out of my way to ensure I don't lose the brand.
http://stores.ebay.co.uk/BargainHomeware - they sell them
http://homestyle2000.co.uk/index.html - they make them0 -

If I hold back £5-10k from my budget, I can no longer afford to buy the houses I want.
I want a utility room with a door outside for washing things -not just clothes, but big kitchen things, fridge shelves, things and stuff..... it'd completely feel wrong to use upstairs for it.
Also - a lot of my hobby-style stuff has the potential to be mucky - and I don't want to be lugging stuff back and forth. The mucky work needs to be alongside electrical items. It's not practical to do some stuff upstairs and be lugging wet things back and forth etc.
Utility would be to, say, drag in a load of dirty stones, wash them out - lay them out on a worktop to dry for a few days (walk away from it until I fancy it again() .... then do some varnishing/laquering work, or painting, or sanding. And all riight by the door so I can be inside/outside with mucky stuff and mucky work.0 -
The current "front runner on paper" house has bigger rooms than the other houses. Here are the dimensions of the (huge) kitchen and bathroom:
Kitchen: 10' x 8'
Bathroom: 6'2 x 6'10
Another on the list, for comparison:
Kitchen: 7' 10"x 6' 6"
Bathroom: They don't say, but the bath is half the room, sink/loo are 1/4 of the room, door opening space is the final quarter.
The 2nd one on the list is:
Kitchen: 10' 7" x 5' 3"
Bathroom: They don't say, but looks 7'x under 6'0 -

And the other rooms are what?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
