Whatever I choose, I have to live with it.
Yeah, I know about the big poo pipe - and new loos/relocating loos is expensive if it's not on the same wall as the big loo pipe - and the pipe fall degrees is an issue too .... and saniflows are to be avoided at all costs.
Tbh, would barely need any budget, I've seen washing machines in good sheds. If you get something under budget if this would give you piece of mind then consider it..

I am blaming you lot and your laundry talk. Today, for no apparent reason I decided to wash our net curtains. Now washed and re-hung (they dry in situ to save ironing). This also meant I had to clean the windows, surrounds and sills. Grr!
I dislike net curtains and wouldn't have any by choice, but we have two bay windows at the front (1 bedroom + dining room), so these nets were meant to be a temporary measure until we decide. But deciding what to do in a bay window is difficult.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Non resident parent had New England style shutters put in the bay in their house. They look super.0 -
Oh - flooring is something I'll be looking to see what they've got. I like hard surfaces as you can buy/put down rugs more easily than choosing and fitting carpets.... especially if you're likely to choose the wrong carpet and then can't change it for 20 years....
If a house has hard floors sthroughout, couple of rugs is all I'd need.
If it's got carpets, then that can be a problem if it's hideous or mucky.... as it'd take effort and money to sort it out and you end up compromising with either a cheap carpet or an inadequate carpet clean.0 -

So shh.
I'm officially not mad.
I was just about to quote the above and tell you you're not mad.
But you've realised not only that, but that I am!PasturesNew wrote: »Finally ... somebody weirder than me
I definitely have things I am weird about. On the rare occasion my housemate washed any of my stuff up (usually didn't leave it lying around long enough), I'd have to re-wash it when she wasn't looking. It looked clean enough, but you can never tell....
Being honest, I probably wouldn't insist on shoes being removed (I would mention to friends though) as I would be trying not to appear weird. I would hoover/ mop as soon as the person had left though
I think I'm going to have to make a special effort not to develop too many strange living-on-my-own habits to try and remain socialised in case I ever end up living with other people again...0 -

I have a carpet cleaner. Its quite satisfying using it (not that you'd have guessed it - made good progress the first weekend of being here and have been lazy since). All I need is some floor space to throw down my sleeping bag and me the carpet cleaner can come over one weekend0 -
I definitely have things I am weird about.
In my own house, with all my stuff in place and anti-bacterial treated .... I might give it a go with rolling pastry between sheets of clingfilm. Bread would need to be done by machine really though.
I also dislike touching pastry as all I can think about is potential germs under my highly scrubbed and anti-bacc'd and cut fingernails.0 -

Only things I;d have liked would have been: utiilty, en-suite, conservatory, less grass.
A couple of questions if that's ok Pastures... just playing devil's advocate.
1. Are you planning to live alone? If so, do you need an end suite when the bathroom will be almost as close?
2. What do you want to put in your utility that can't be put in a good sized kitchen with a double sink and space for washing machine?
ETA just noticed lir has posted similar questions. Sorry Pastures, can't keep up again..Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I like my carpet cleaner too. Won't use it now though till we have heating, apart from in the woodburner room I guess.
But, what was horrific is when we took the carpets up. Ours is a bissel, which rated it really well and it smells great after the carpets are cleaned but as they came up I realised the deep smell of 'yuck' in our ancient carpet. I wanted to cry. Our room and the stairs smell SO MUCH BETTER without the carpet.
Ok, those carpets were ancient, but still. Yuck.

The carpets here don't look too old - definitely weren't the most lovely and plush carpets, but don't look too shabby considering they were in a student let.
They are a long way down the list of 'things to do'. The carpet cleaner seemed to do its thing well, so I'm not thinking about how yuck they probably still are.0
