Nice People Thread Part 9 - and so it continues

What annoys me about the UK is that everything's based on "X bedrooms" - and when you do a spreadsheet of the square footage -v- purchase price there are horrific differences. The flat I saw the layout of earlier was a 2-bed flat..... by moving one wall 3' and putting up another one (call it a week's work?) it could add £40k to the "value".
That's always felt morally wrong to me. It's no bigger.... just an opportunist filling their pockets at the expense of the well-being and lifestyle of another.0 -

I'm band D. About £1600 before 25% discount for being lonely and single around here.0 -

There is an easy solution to this problem.
Don't do the spreadsheet. It serves no purpose except to annoy you.
Larger lower cost floor space = undesirable property/location from all of your accounts.
Just how does it look, forget all about the location drivel off the internet. Have a look at places, be prepared for some compromises, and to find that you do like something that you see.
We moved here and to our previous houses without the wisdom of all that 'knowledge'. We trusted our own judgement. Your judgement will be fine, but you have to experience it (see it, feel it, walk around it, smell it), not just read about it.

Brilliant phrase that I've not heard in a long time! It's very applicable to some of the people at my work.
At the moment I'm doing something that will make us more than $500,000 in profit. It'll take me 8 weeks all up. Another team was meant to do it and they spent 6 months producing Powerpoint presentations about how great they were rather than cracking on with the job in hand.
Do any Nice People have tips for dealing with stress? I'm struggling a bit at the moment.0 -
I have been on here about 6 times today but this is the first time I have managed to catch up. Do you lot not spend most of the day ferrying the kids to various activities in between sorting out your tenants?
PN can you not claim tax credits? Even with savings if these are to buy a house can they not be discounted?
Work related stuff on the news this evening...
Thinking of you NDG.I think....0 -

I was thinking about you and the differences between the public and private sector - public sector recruitment everyone has to be given a fair chance. Private sector only needs to recruit someone who can do the job.
I find having too little to do can be the most stressful thing - ie if feeling stressed find something else to do - I suspect this may not be recommended by therapists though. Apparently mindfulness is good but I find it very hard to do.I think....0
