I really hope that NDG is ok. I'm guessing that she isn't due to the lack of news.

Mrs Generali miscarried before Generalissimo #1 was born and it was horrible. Thoughts are absolutely with her.

I was thinking about you and the differences between the public and private sector - public sector recruitment everyone has to be given a fair chance. Private sector only needs to recruit someone who can do the job.

I find having too little to do can be the most stressful thing - ie if feeling stressed find something else to do - I suspect this may not be recommended by therapists though. Apparently mindfulness is good but I find it very hard to do.

When I recruit I look for the person that can:

    1. Make the most money for the company
    2. Not take my job
    3. Be fun to work with

    In that order.

    What is mindfullness?

I was just thinking about what more do I need to do to get that lifestyle? (It's a whole lot more if I keep doing that way that I'm doing in the way that I'm doing it)

We moved here and to our previous houses without the wisdom of all that 'knowledge'. We trusted our own judgement. Your judgement will be fine, but you have to experience it (see it, feel it, walk around it, smell it), not just read about it.

There is a danger of paralysis of analysis.
You're a couple - and were younger and hadn't had many knocks... which all dent confidence. I am getting older now and don't want to be cut off/lonely in a place where there's nothing about (e.g. a village away from the towns).

I'd like to be able to be within walking/cycling distance of things and stuff that are useful.

Going out to a cul de sac in a village, based just on the house merits could land me cut off. Trying to go for "nice/ok cul de sac close to amenities and bus routes etc".

Couples can go anywhere - they've got each other for company, companionship and just "getting out there to see what's about".

I'm pretty sure I could tick all three boxes... just saying :)
(though I could think of NP who would be equally or more suited)

All I ask is that you let me know if I need to turn up to my interview...

    Very much agree.

PN can you not claim tax credits? Even with savings if these are to buy a house can they not be discounted?
    Couple of issues:

1] Yes, probably, but I'm too scared of big forms to try
2] I don't see why the taxpayer should fund my lazy lifestyle; I should at least be out "looking for work". It's that old fashioned concept that it's "charity".
    3] I keep thinking "today's the day it'll turn round and I'll see a full-time income again.

I wonder what the council tax is on Buckingham Palace - based on it being in the top band it's probably less than she spends on champagne in a week.

Feel free to take this as my interview. I'm not going to do any better at any interviews, believe me!

You put in the hours doing what you do, if we, through our parliamentary representatives, decide that people who don't earn that much should pay negative tax why are you special not to get the same as anyone else? Think how much the govt give me each month through not taxing my pension contributions (including no NI) - much more than you would be getting back from tax credits.
    I think....
