I am squeamish about raw mince, wouldn't have been able to eat that. I'm getting fed up of trendy burger places, but I realised it had all gone too far when I went to bubbledogs.

People queue round the block for that place and both the food and the concept is diabolical. Most of the people queuing were wearing a trilby and glasses with no lenses.0 -

I like lamb and beef pink, but draw the line at pink mince.
I obviously have no imagination, as I would never be able to put together a concept of hotdogs and champagne as a business.
Or even visit it.0 -

Steak tartare?
There is mince and fresh minced steak. One should IMO never be rare.
Otoh I want meat and redder the better almost all the time ATM. Steak tartare doesn't do it for me though.0 -

Thanks. I reckon I've just about seen it all now. :rotfl:
And regarding the burger the word isn't "squeamish" it's "sensible". I'm just hoping the meat was steak and served before anyhing could be growing on it. The whole concept's a disgrace though. It's not just that they need a better ambience than a fast food outlet, they should be at least as safe, that's all we ask. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Actually, I'd probably like a 'gourmet' hotdog and champagne. Depends what gourmet means. They say 100% British meat,...what else makes them gourmet? Any more welfare info?0

I've seen some interesting crossover ideas. My friend who lived in New Orleans used to take his laundry to a laundromat, but it was also a cocktail bar, as the Americans have realised that most laundromat users are young bored and single.
The greasy spoon caff near my old house used to convert to a Chinese takeaway at about 5PM when the daytime customers were fed and cleared off and the evening customers were looking for takeaways. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -

I prefer steak medium-rare, but it gives me cramps about 2 hours later. Mince I'd rather have cooked through.0 -

They were certainly not gourmet. Supermarket equivalent.0 -
Just been to a fancy burger bar in town where the burger looked so bl00dy inside I could only eat it by looking away from it.
Wish I'd asked for it to be well done instead of medium.
It's all very trendy and I'm sure it's high quality meat but if they're just going to slap it raw onto a bun I'd rather trust my luck with a fast food burger or one from a greasy spoon caff.
I'm not a real burger fan but I went to this place in the summer, on the demand of friend. We drove completely out of the way to get there on what was already a three hour drive but but and Oh. My. I had the onion jam one and it was the nicest burger I have ever had by a clear mile. Nothing like a burger I've had here. I can almost taste it now. The bread was totally different - soft, warm, perhaps a bit like Brioche? and the juice was dark, almost caramelised and soaking into the bun. I've been craving one for weeks.

I'm not sure if I'm happy I went or sorry that I'm now tormented by that burger. If anyone goes to Seattle, do not miss it!
