FC.....
DH was just on the phone and he asked me to send you his love.0 -
I think the last slice of cake I ate was at yours, in July 2012.0

Hope you're ok FC. Thinking of your mum.0

Thinking about the fc family too. I'm sure it's worth trying the other way and I'm positive they're not thinking of writing her off just yet
Be strong for her.
Love to you xEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Our thoughts are with you FCYes, I quite often talk my posts on here. At least, the longer ones. In fact, when I use the dictation software, I tend to Witter on for longer. The trouble is all the little mistakes, like that one. Also, when it goes wrong, it can go wrong in spectacular fashion, putting complete gobbledygook in the text, although all perfectly beautifully spelt, so is rather difficult to spot sometimes.
That's why some of my posts are drivel too...lostinrates wrote: »I have had a handmixer all my cooking life ( actually two, my stinky ex took my first one). First one cost a tenner, second cost something like eight euros. ( still haveit).

I so e times use mixers to do other lazy things.......not just baking .....
When I have access to a magimix I use that too, but still find chopping ok, and I can chop to a fin3 pulp quite quickly :rotfl: if needed, its not as exhausting as whipping or beating.
I was thinking this week I could probably start doing stuff like stuffing for Christmas and freezing it so its easier on the day. But then.....part of the fun is cooking.0 -

I have had a magimix all my married life. It is used for chopping, grating, mixing. Only on my second one, although I have got through a few of the bowls and need a new one now.
At present used a couple of times a week for breadcrumbs, soups, combining bubble and squeak.0 -

My mother gave me another brand processor she got cheaply last Christmas and I have to admit its not made it out of the box. I find grating, chopping quicker / easier than wrestling with the thing or putting it in dishwasher and I don 't like it on the surface all the time.
I have a Braun hand mixer for soups ( and no, its not as good as a blender but it does) .
Things I don't make I would if we got it out are mainly thinks like pât!, parfait a ( I don't like coarse pât! or terrines so a processor does make a difference there....and we have really nice basic chicken liver pât! that we make but.....I'll get it out at Christmas make three and freeze them ( oh shadow chancellor, cannot eat that either, cream, oh well, every one else can.....I love that stuff).
I don't use bread crumbs a lot, we don't have bread a lot. When I do need them I ask DH to grate some for me. We have a bag of frozen crumbs in the freezer and every now and then I decree it 'too old' and give it too the birds when there is more going stale to grate.0 -
Just been to a fancy burger bar in town where the burger looked so bl00dy inside I could only eat it by looking away from it.
Wish I'd asked for it to be well done instead of medium.
It's all very trendy and I'm sure it's high quality meat but if they're just going to slap it raw onto a bun I'd rather trust my luck with a fast food burger or one from a greasy spoon caff. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
fc123, sorry to hear about your Mum. Hope they do come to a positive decision about the op. Not good news that your dad isn't with it too.
Aww thanks for all the kind words everyone, can't quote all the posts.
As someone (or several said) tomorrow is another day and we will remain positive as one can't worry yet as a second op may sort out these dam little ducts. Crazy that all the scans showed up every part of her body to be absolutely free from anything nasty at all and then just one little bit is broken.PasturesNew wrote: »Sorry to hear that; I know how these things are suddenly thrust upon you and everything's upside down and never the same again .... always dealing with new sudden changes/information
My surviving parent has gone through a lot and always survives..... the one who went early was the youngest by 7 years, active and had lots of annoying niggles, but nothing major and WHAM!!
I was thinking of your Dad today and was chatting with OH about how quickly he got ill and then passed away but it was in the context of how much he did for your mother and how her ability to not cope showed up as soon as she was solo.
It's my step-father who has the memory issues and he 'exercises' his brain with puzzles and what-not but his short term memory is now decreasing rapidly. He relies on notes everywhere but then forgets the notes and so on.
He is 81 and probably couldn't cope alone. One of us will pop in tomo pm as his kids all live far away. Doesn't help they live in this large house done out like a museum...got to be the highest maintenance house ever.
My Dad )82), apparently decided to climb up onto one of his roofs today to remove leaves from his gutters. His house is a huge Victorian pile with 3 tall floors + several roofs. It would be instant death of he slipped off it.I am really sorry to hear about your mother's problems. Such a shame that the simple approach has not worked. I do hope that they persevere.
These days, 74 is no great age, and your mother sounds like she is much fitter than most people half her age. So, if it comes to it, perhaps they will consider a transplant.

I couldn't 'talk' my posts as they would go on for pages...my dreadful typing means they are restricted.
I fell a bit guilty now as I am sneaking off on a weekend away solo and have had a head full of new kitchen and now seems wrong.0
