Glad to hear nothing too dramatic at home for those reporting in. Anyone ventured out yet? DH has made it to outskirts of London without anything to report other than heavier traffic.
Absolutely nothing here. We had quite a bit of rain at about 5:30 but the trees haven't moved. We don't even have an extra scattering of leaves.
Just saying London, Northern Home Counties and East Anglia of the next couple of hours.
Edit: LIR, BBC have a team very close to you, lots of trees down, country roads impassable!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Nothing here either. The climbing frame is still where I left it, and the tree a few doors down the road still has large red apples hanging on it. I think the storm must have passed further south.
Half term here, so no need to go to work or take DD to school this morning.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

If nothing else seems like wouldn't sit well with me.
An insurance quote for a fence probably would cover most of a wallEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

DH and resident parent are saying things like 'over done it' in last couple of weeks. Not in pain badly ( in fact head feels as good as it gets) just frustrated as obviously cannot drive or anything like this and partly why I moved horses early.
Pretty fed up of being do bloody pathetic tbh. Grrrrrrrrrr.
You are far from pathetic, missus. Hope today is better for you. It's piddling down in Salford Quays, but that's about it..
Most annoying thing is a ferry to Spain was cancelled yesterday, would have had two drivers out on an 8 day trip, now I have two drivers and a truck with nothing to do ( i.e. making no money).0 -
Good morning. Half term here so not going to work anyawy. Roads very quiet and weather calm after last night. Got to walk the dog soon so will see what it/'s like outside. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0

Half term here, too. For Isaac, anyway, but not for all the local primaries.
Our neighbours all tell us that in 1987 they were out with chain saws to clear the road and it was more than a week without power. That will be the good old days.
Just thought...as it is still blowing, getting to work is one thing, getting home another:(. Ho hum
I remember that, too - it woke Eleanor and me up, and we spent most of the night in the same bed, and our road in Blackheath had 5 trees across it, and watching men heaving and chopping them all up and looking at squashed cars was fascinating for a 9 year old (as I was) and a 7 year old (my next sister). My other siblings, not surprisingly, don't remember it at all (aged 3 and 1)....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -
We're a tiny bit cut off from the town we are connected to and the next biggest town....trees down, even the back double won't work as that has trees down too!
Double decker bus blown over with passengers aboard, trains not running until after 12 midday, buses not running either, so if you need to get out of the village, you are beggered by any means.
My house quite literally jumped at about 8 this morning, completely freaking me and the cat out, turns out it was one of the big trees on the High road coming down.
Surveying the damage, apart from bins over, we appear to have got through it with no damage, next door neighbour not so lucky, 120ft of fencing down.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

The storm? Woken at 4AM by DW saying it's very windy, although I hadn't been woken by the wind. "Meteorological wind", as she put it, to distinguish it from the other kind, which we won't talk about.
One of our garden benches has blown over onto its back. And, that's about it damage-wise.
Edit: The pear tree was "well shook up", and the lawn under it is absolutely covered with pears. Probably stone hard, and we don't eat them., anyway. They mostly end up on the compost heap. If anyone wants some, please PM me. Must be a good few carrier bags full that have dropped overnight.
At 2AM on Sunday Winter Depressive Time (WDT) started. It was dark already by 5PM.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
In other news, James has found a part time job, only 3 hours a week but it is a start. He is still bored as everyone else is still playing catch up and he is overdoing things, a bad double hip dislocation which found him collapsing into a main road last week, a bad single hip dislocation this week.
Oh and their father is coming down this weekend for a week...when the boys go back to school after half term.We made it! chewmylegoff wrote: »The biggest inconvenience appears to be the fact that everyone in the world is trying to get into SWtrains' website so I can't tell whether my train is running or not. Since it just goes on a loop from Waterloo out to Kingston and then back in to Waterloo there doesn't seem to be much reason why it wouldn't be running...
I used to get that loop when I went to Kingston Crown Court, before I cottoned on to the fact that it was a lot faster to get the train to Surbiton and the bus from there, as Kingston CC's half-way between the two stations. It seemed that if drivers were MIA, or trains delayed, that loop train was the first to be affected from Waterloo?
Sam's not here yet, and OH has swept Isaac off to Chambers with him, as I was too busy throwing up to have a view on where Isaac should be. Isaac likes Chambers, though, so he won't have a lot to whinge about.FirstCapitalConnect are apparently having a lie in until 9...at which point the 10,000 people who normally travel before then will all be trying to get on to the 4 trains an hour that run in the off-peak service....
With any luck, a decent proportion of the 10,000 will decide to sod it, and stay at home?...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0
