There's an old joke from the days of the cold war. The Soviets had some extra large condoms made especially for export to the USA, and they labelled them small.
I've heard that joke differently , as a wwtwo joke.
The yanks say to Churchill 'we need a condom job for our boys, can you do it?' Then give ludicrous dimensions, and Churchill says, yes, of course, x number of mediums on their way.0 -

Getting a grip is what I need to do.
We have done up both our houses before but it never stressed me out as we had kids +it was all set up to be easy-to-live-with and I also wasn't precious about anything really.
Must be some odd psychological old lady syndrome....oh gosh, maybe I will turn into a Hycainth Bouquet character. I always hated to go to those sorts of peoples houses and then were scared to accept a cuppa in case you dripped some of it.lostinrates wrote: »Bathroom tip. (From the days when I cared!). Face clothes. Use a fresh one everyday, when finished yourself wring out till almost dry, uses brute force of huge quantities) then wipe down bathroom quickly. Because almost dry should pretty much buff everything up, and you can clean before than buff lightly with your face cloth, then you can buff up properly with the corner of your towel on the dry bathroom.,
Then facecloth chucked in wash......
We have LOTS of face clothes, all go through as a wash together.
Good idea but I will resist and stick to clean down once a week and toilet paper dabs in-betweenlostinrates wrote: »I've been really dodgy today. I have 'collapsed' about half a dozen times today and felt a bit out of it. DH and resident parent are saying things like 'over done it' in last couple of weeks. Not in pain badly ( in fact head feels as good as it gets) just frustrated as obviously cannot drive or anything like this and partly why I moved horses early.
Pretty fed up of being do bloody pathetic tbh. Grrrrrrrrrr.
You OK now?
PN; Did your mum have to have more tests or was the c not confirmed? Will they treat her for it?
Rest of our fence blew down (which we were expecting) but now I am wondering whether to claim on buildings ins. We have never made a claim in 17 years at this house.
If we do, would our premium go sky high (so the saving ends up costing more in the long run in higher premiums)?
Really we want to replace her with a wall.
The concrete posts are out of line but that's because it is a fox trail and they have dug under them off and on over the years unless we leave a hole for them to get through. Now they have no barriers at all.
When we build the wall, we will have to have an animal sized gap for them to go through (hedgehog uses it too) or they will just dig tunnels underneath it.0 -
Hedge hogs need a gap fc123. Increases in fences and walls is partly blamed for decline.0

DH said office was dead today.0

I received 3 emails all day which suggests the office wasn't particularly busy!0

leaving the village was the biggest problem on my journey to work , turned around when I came across a tree and power line blocking the road, went through a flood, then turned around when another tree was blocking the road. Lots of small partial blocks from small trees and branches. Road outside our house carpeted in crunchy acorns
Drove past a large field sheletr that was upside down balanced on a hedge and hanging into the road.
Went through second flood of the day afterwhich all was uneventful.
Came home, chose a route that I avoided this morning as the traffic report said it was closed. No mention of it this evening ...and it was closed . But I and many others had driven at least a mile along it before having to turn round in a drive and then (in my case) retrace the path of the mornings obstacle course.0 -

It makes me sad, too. I passed one on its side that was nearly my height in diameter. It must have been growing for at least a couple of hundred years - one of the old boundary oaks. It's literally irreplaceable in a timescale that has any meaning for you and me.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
You are very welcome to come and say hi for a cuppa or a bite to eat
Hi michaels, what a lovely offer. It looks as though the trains will be ok tomorrow so will be going back in the morning. A missed opportunity ... Perhaps another time. Which part of Herts are you in (if I can ask that in an open forum?)?0
