this thread made me almost snort...

Morning.
I always thought of British driving as quite 'civilised' compared to some European countries, but your motorway driving is appaling - and getting worse IMO.
The 2nd and fast lane hogging has always been a British pasttime it seems, but what gets my goat more often lately is when you are patiently stop-going in the slow lane for the next exit and then those 2nd and 3rd lane hoggers joining in the last couple of yards just to gain half a minute. Join the queue at the back please.
Yes it's awful. My pet peeve is that on stretches where the motorway widens to 4 lanes, everyone moves from lane 1 to lane 2 for no reason whatsoever.
I personally find that driving etiquette is noticably worse in the south east. The further north you get from London the lower the percentage of cars in the fast lane becomes. At times on the M25 it seems like 90% of the traffic is in the fast lane for no reason whatsoever.0 -

When of the pleasures of driving a dog kennel on wheels, ie it looks as if it should be condemned, means that I don't let anyone in, and if they want to try and push that's fine, I won't be upset by crumpled bodywork unlike the Audi/Merc/BMW owner:D0 -

Driving definitely gets worse coming west from the east., we just have fewer on the roads so it looks less bad.

After my life pace changed so did my driving attitude. I let people in now, often just for the fun of it. So they think they are in more of a rush? They are probably right. Nice for them to be right once a day. Even when their driving is wrong. No skin of my nose. And nice to feel relaxed about it all.0 -

Why? Oddly I got the same email as we bought one of their beds recently (and love it).0 -

:rotfl:Me too....DD says I drive like a granny. I let people in, I smile, I let people cross, I give way. I am almost the doormat of the road. I even love driving on the inside lane down the motorway.
Wasn't always like this as I used to drive a lot and had a Celica so could really burn her on late night m-way journeys (empty roads).
Could be something to do with driving the ugliest car on the road too...an old burgundy Polo.0
